I've got the same problem with sd_duke v1.2, not with v1.1. Way of installing: I've downloaded "sd_duke_v1.2.rar" from nigtfright's website and extract the file "sd_duke.zip" into the "autoload\duke3d.grp" folder.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I've had this problem and fixed it.
What is the command line entry you are using for eduke? ( the eduke32.exe /g etc etc) stuff. |

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
Errr... you put sd_duke.zip and sd_duke.grp from the .rar file to the autoload dir, I hope that's what you meant...

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
Missed /gsd_duke.grp
Command line(sd_duke.bat in HRP): eduke32.exe /gsd_duke.grp /gsd_duke.zip to NightFright Description on your site missed this file (/gsd_duke.grp) too. |

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
As for the errors with SD_Mod, I had the same problem with last weeks HRP (not this very latest one)
To fix this, first un-install the HRP, there should be an un-installer in your Duke folder. Next, delete all con and def files from the same folder. Now install the latest HRP and there should not be any problems. If your still having the same problem then follow the steps above again but this time make sure you've deleted ALL CON and DEF files before re-installing the HRP. Failing that you could just simply install Duke3D again into a new fresh folder then just install the HRP in there. Oh and play the game via the batch file or shortcut created in your start menu. |

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
You can bring back the highres explosions anytime by removing the comment lines for #1890-1910 in effects.def (the lines with /* and */).
On other news, I am currently working insanely to get the new healthbottle/Steroids models into the maphacks. By pure accident, it became the 3rd full revision of the whole episode series. And tell you what, I still found bugs. Will try to get it done ASAP, but progress is slow because I have to do a lot of sprite searching.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I believe I recommended this to you when you were looking for one sprite in Smithsonian Terror. Put this in you duke3d.def, and, in Mapster32 2D mode, the labels of the two health models and the steroids will turn bright red, both for blocking and non-blocking sprites. It should speed up your revisions of the maphacks.
Code:
2dcol 50 255 0 0 spritecol 51 50 50 // COLA - +10 spritecol 52 50 50 // SIXPAK - +30 spritecol 55 50 50 // STEROIDS |

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
Nice stuff guys Pal 8 seems to be blue now instead of green, though. I don't know if that's Eduke32-related or HRP-related, but I'm just saying.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I am currently done playing through the first 2 episodes with HRP v3 and wanted to hint talented guys at points where to start for creating Update Pack v3.1 contents...
Pic 1: Dead Battlelord (Sentry) still having glowing eyes. Might apply to all other bosses as well. Pic 2: Outside area of E2L8 airlock. The wall texture is wrong. This was/is an old EDuke32 bug. Displayed OK in Mapster32. Pic 3: The often-mentioned clipping bug for #1323. Only noticable when in close range to model. Pic 4: "Monk" effect on #603 (see arrow). It's funny somehow... More to come... (of course with #603 flipped). These are only the more obvious glitches btw.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
1. - Check def files for death anim skin settings. You're going to have to stop applying the glow effect for the death animation, as that skin carries over for after its snuffed it.
3. Is the bra on a separate skin file/different polys? If so, then the bra needs to be painted onto the original then. I've not seen the original to check. 4. - ermmm... I thought that was fixed. All that is required is too paint some hair on top of the skull. That was done.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I think it would be cool to see the glow fade about 3 seconds after the enemies are dead - I think it would just make it that bit more cool - seeing the life drain from their face.
Or am I just a sadistic b@st@rd???

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
The Overlord reminds me of this annoying creature -- not good.
I realize Hellbound spent a thrilling amount of time making this model (a day) but.. well, it just didn't pay off. It's unfaithful to the original - The Cycloid Emperor was made in more than a day, and it's also a much better model. Perhaps you should spend, god forbid, 2 days on making a model and it might look better. edit: Sarcastic comments aside - The model just doesn't look that good so I suggest you brush it up a bit. From the various comments I've read from HB it seems it's a pain to do so and that you don't get paid for it but that just doesn't seem like a good reason to me for a somewhat crappy model.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
HRP bug -- If you pause the game and then unpause it, dead Enforcers (LIZMAN) will display their death animation again.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I don't think that's HRP, I think that's Duke itself. I've seen plenty of times when coming into a room with already dead enemies we got to see the death animation again back in the day before there was an HRP.

Or if you press the escape key to bring up the main menu - they stand up displaying their first walking frame, press esc again and they're back on the floor (no animation between the frames). I mentioned this before, back on the previous page. |

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
Well guys, it may be just me and my blindness, but for me, Overlord is quite close to the original (shape). Maybe someone should mess with the skin or make a new from scratch. I can send him a wire and single frame model. But I need to know that will be someone who would finnish that. And as for quality, dunno about the skin but animation is kewl for me
Hey Sang, about the sarcasm, maybe you'll try and show me how it should be done? And I've spent a day on the first version and another one regarding these forums and making fixes. Finally people agreed it's good, so dunno why we're back to this again |

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
But he always was like frog for me and believe me, I worked very long on face when I had original sprite on the background. I guess it looks so diffrent because of perspective (which changes much more than you think - for example heigh of battlelord's gun).

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I've been staring at the original sprite and at the model for a couple of minutes now.. The model just doesn't seem to have the proper facial "expression" if you know what I mean. Take a look between the eyes of the sprite, there seems to be some "detail" there to make him look angrier but it isn't apparent in the model.
Also the brown on the model is a bit too dark in comparison with the sprite (but that's still bearable)

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I think a more detailed skin could add a lot to the model. As if the skin looks kindof... I don't know... unfinished in a way. Almost grainy.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I think what sang means is that the overlord doesn't have the same "essence"...that's something that happens when you draw a portrait of someone, sometimes the tiniest little thing can make a person and the drawing look really different.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
There it is! DavoX nailed it.
Like I said, a really good skin could completely fix this issue. Also, while playing Episode 3 level 1 I noticed a few places where the textures don't match up. The areas don't look smooth.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
I noticed that too, but then I loaded it up without the HRP and the textures were still misaligned, so it isn't HRP related.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
There is tons of unaligned textures in the game. It has even been suggested by some that there should be map hacks for them.

Re: New Version of High Resolution Pack released!
Yeah, you dont know how much grief that cause d me...
"oh crap my textures suck" [hours of sweat and tears go by] "nm 3drealms was just in a hurry... but my textures still suck" Here is the best tecnique I ever figured out: 1.Make a new texture 2.define at as a different texture than the one its replacing (the original of which is the same dimensions of the original you are replacing 3.make a simple map in build, put the texture to be replaced and the one that will be overwritten (temporarily by the new one) 4. make sure they are side by side and hit the 'o' key (IIRC) 5.load game to see a menaingful apples to apples comparison of old texture and crappy new one you just made, see if they tile nicely with each other. 6.cuss at the horribly obvious feature repetition, poor gradients, and washed out colors of your new work 7.rinse and repeat

I'm thinking I'm willing to take a crack at creating some textures (not for the HRP though, just some "freelance" work) but I'm wondering how you guys do them. I suppose you use Photoshop / PSP but... well, how?
