Re: Duke Nukem Forever fanbase CHECK! Please report here if you still care about DNF!
I'm replying, but with bad news. Not that I was a super-active member then, but now I take a look a the forums maybe once every month...
I'm sorry, but now that there's no future in DNF, I can't get interested enough to hang on these forums. When the project is started again, I'll be back to my almost-daily visits. |

Re: Duke Nukem Forever fanbase CHECK! Please report here if you still care about DNF!
Yep. Me too. Just fed up and dis-interested. Any discussions deteriorate into gutter brawls. My only hope is that DNF will happen and that we'll be able to play it some day. At that time I'll be back in the forums regularly again.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever fanbase CHECK! Please report here if you still care about DNF!
Quote:
That was a transitioning era , games suddenly were no longer ok having only some kickass gameplay they needed to have a story , a script , needed to be cohesive ( no more Quake I style games, where its a clash of art directions for example ) this meant games could not be developed by a team of 6-8 people alone in a reasonable time . Games started getting more hype and slowly being recognized more and more . People were used to work on a game the way they envisioned it to be , without a precise set date in most cases and usually with word of the mouth hype. Cost started raising up and without a good direction most old school programming teams either got absorbed by major companies or changed focus . The few big name survivors of this , which could be ID, 3DR until last year , Blizzard and Epic ( there are others , but i feel these were the hottest who survived ) had all their teams completely different since when they made their "big" games , some held better some held worse ( think Blizzard vs 3DR ) but in the end they all got bought or sold themselves to big companies or went bankrupt and shut down dev teams. I didn't include Valve for example , as Valve is what i see the start of the new generation of software houses , built from the ground up to cover not only the game itself but a lot of other areas too. THere a lot more to write and expand , this is what happened in a nutshell , and why a lot of games like Daikatana , DNF , Prey and so on were actually hyped from magazines ( where for example Half Life was not until the very very last E3 unveiling ) but in the end either couldn't make it or straight out sucked ( with prey standing in a middle ground , different from what it was , but still enjoyable ) |

I'm not sure I care whether it comes out at this point. BUT (okay, but): I will definately buy it if it does, even if the reviews suck. In fact, if it would help 3DRealms get back in the green I'd buy 2 copies. >_>

Re: Duke Nukem Forever fanbase CHECK! Please report here if you still care about DNF!
Quite simply, no. I check the forums hoping the ipo is sold to a more mature responsible company. In mind would be 2K, Blizzard, Valve, Infinity Ward.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever fanbase CHECK! Please report here if you still care about DNF!
From time to time, ever since I started playing the Duke Nukem 3D demo, I've checked the site for news of games being developed. And as always, I've wished and hoped that Duke Nukem Forever would be done before the next world war hits and destroys any chance of it being completed.
Although it appears that DN4 is never going to be released, I still hope that it is just delayed by this law suit.

Yes, I care about DNF! I care about DNF so much, I started this project.
http://forums.duke4.net/index.php?sh...4&st=0&start=0 Anyone who wants to participate, feel free to do so. I need video clips from as many hardcore Duke fans as I can get! There's a few well-known people around these forums and Duke4.net's forums who have already submitted their clip, but I still need more.

Hell yeah, I still care about the Duke.
That said, as we know, the DNF development team no longer exists. My hope is after all the legal wranglings are over, 3d Realms license DNF out to another developer to help make it, with their input. Could be epic, and maybe we could play it in say... 2014? |

Why don't we create a DNF video of some sort? Maybe we can use it to save Duke?!?

My first real computer memory is about Duke Nukem 1. Try imagine a 4year old boy typing "cd duke" and "duke" for playing a game he didnt understand more than it was really fun. Computing is my life today! (work, studying and home) so try guess where the spark came from
I still care about DNF and Duke. Always bet on Duke and all that

Re: Duke Nukem Forever fanbase CHECK! Please report here if you still care about DNF!
I check the forums every week, and some weeks, several times.
It took a long time for me to register in the forums, because when I first started to visit it, my skills in the english language was very very poor. But everytime I think of Duke Nukem Forever I thrill, I dream of the game. And I'll keep on coming, keep on dreaming and like the song says, "Don't stop believing". The game WILL be released someday. I guess we fans hope by George hands, but, one way or another, it'll be released. And man, let me say something, it'll ROCK! |

Re: Duke Nukem Forever fanbase CHECK! Please report here if you still care about DNF!
Oh, trust me...it's my main reason of remaining a PC gamer throughout the past decade. Even tho there are those FPS games and sandbox games wanting to be DNF, there can only be ONE Duke Nukem, and one game that'll make him the envy of all. So, yeah, I can play UT2004, GTA IV, GTA: San Andreas, Saints Row 2, Half-Life 2 Episodes, and Postal 2 all I want, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING will equal the addiction and open-endedness of DNF, from how I see it. Hell, even Duke 3D with Polymer and HRP may never equal what we really want, even tho it's the next best thing for times like these.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever fanbase CHECK! Please report here if you still care about DNF!
No shooter nowadays plays like Duke Nukem 3D does even today.
So ofcourse I'm still supporting DNF or any other FPS based on the Duke Legacy! I have to say Prey started of very well in the opening scene, and I was hoping to see some reminders to the Duke era, but it's just another serious alien shooter. I want humoristic FPS games and Duke is the KING! Hail to the king! |
