Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
Probably the easiest way to check this is to erase your *.rot files and
see if the problem goes away, I'm wondering if this is only a visual problem that is being caused by stuff set in the opengl menu. ![]() |

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
Thanks for the tip. I'll see if the problem goes away if I delete the .rot files. What about the flying platforms? Can they actually be destroyable?

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
If you mean the gads that are setup up as elevators and 'trains', then no,
they are not supposed to be counted as destroyable objects (at least to my knowledge)... |

Hmm, then something's going on. They keep disappearing on Extreme Rott levels.

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
I remember playing Extreme Rott levels, and effectively, GADs can be destroyed by rolling boulders only. Are you in this level where there are a lot of boulders rolling around?
I should perhaps try playing back these levels since some of the levels involve different behaviours from the game elements.

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
I haven't seen anything rolling in this level, but 50% of the level is up on GADs. The destroyed GADs remain visible on the game, but not on the map.

What level are you talking about? What's the title of that level?
(Just press TAB to get the map during the level and the name should appear in the top-left corner of the screen)

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
I got confused. When you say that the platforms are still visible, but not on the map, do you mean on the LEVEL itself (the "map") or on the level's MAP (when you press Tab key)?
Because if it's the level's MAP, then it's not a bug. Some game elements like enemies, corpses or even your character override the GAD icons. They return back to normal when you move or the enemies move and are still operational in the game. This is because the level's map can't show multiple things on a single tile, but I'm pretty sure it can be altered in the code. They aren't supposed to be destroyed at all. If, for any reason, they are REALLY destroyed, then yes, it's a serious problem, but I've just played the level and I didn't encounter any problems. Do you have a screenshot of a destroyed platform through the game? Thanks!

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
I meant the map when I pressed TAB key and there were no other icons above them. They were simply gone, but still visible in 3D mode. If I walked on them I would fall anyway. Whenever the bug repeats again I'll take some screenshots.

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
Ok, now I see what happens. If I kill a guard that is over or under the GAD, it turns useless. The player will fall when stepping on it. Deleting the .rot files doesn't fix this.

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
Last time it happened, a corpse exploded under it. I'll try again with non-destroyable corpses. A similar thing was also happening with cross items (they were collected or destroyed, but remained visible).

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
Unless you know about net code, no I can't think of anything else to do at
the moment, I've still not heard from birger, but he's done this sort of thing before and then all of a sudden he'll pop up. I've also noticed that the rott community at bizhat seems to have vanished at the noment also. Maybe things will pick up again eventually... ![]() |

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
What do you mean by net code ?
I already sent you a PM once about that and like I said, I have Visual Studio 2008. I could perhaps give it a try on the code unless of course you already altered all the changes I reported earlier. Say, I was thinking that you could put the code into a SVN repository, but since you and birger are in charge to compile the code yourselves, then I think it'd be pointless, no?

Birger has the final say about official compiles, I mentioned your changes

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
Hey, i just realize a few things that need to be fixed. The keys show up in the generic blue color; They should be bronze, silver, gold and red. Also for some odd reason when you load up a game auto run turns off and so does the music.

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
Birger should already know about most of these issues, the keys being the
wrong colors have been looked at at least 2 times now, the current version if winrottgl shouldn't have this issue, I haven't heard from birger in a good while, hopefully he hasn't totally disappeared, I may have a beta copy of the next version on my system, I'll see if I can compile it and we can go from there. ![]() |

Re: Birgers/JB's WinRott Port Thread Part 2
Cool!
![]() And yeah, "Deadbody as target" seems to have some bugs in it. By the way, is that feature really necessary though? I find it rather annoying and frustrating that missiles that are primarily reserved for enemies are stopped and explode on corpses on the ground, meaning that you have to watch out not to be in front of a dead corpse if you don't want to blow up with it!
