(0.63 I think), I tried a earlier version, and stargunner
would not run properly, but with .63, it runs perfect!
I use a CVS build As for stuttering, that will happen if you don't have enough cycles or if your machine can't handle it. I didn't know what this game needed so I gave it 34000 cycles to play with. Smooth as baby's arse.
Well, I'm using 0.63, and I have managed to smoothen out the sound quite a bit by playing around with the cpu cycles in the .conf file, but it's still not running perfect for me. There are still some hicups in the sound (although, it's not as bad as it was before), and some of the cut scenes, like the "Star Wars" styled word crawl, are pretty choppy.

It's probably because the processor in my PC isn't very good, it's currently using an AMD Duron 1.1 :\ .

That is precisely the reason things get discontinued.

As for the compilation DVD.. Folks, don't forget, this has been discussed here many times, it's unworkable due to all the rights issues involved with all the folks and companies involved. As much as I'd love to release that, we can't.

I have made it though - I have a DVD with everything the company's ever done on it. There's only one game I don't have the full registered version of, and it's one of the ones we don't have anything to do with anymore - that being Star Trek TNG Trivia.

You shouldn't have said that.....now your going to get mugged on your way home from work one day and that DVD will mysteriously vanish....

What? No I don't mean me.....someone MIGHT do it...

Hey, this is interesting. Has any Amiga code been done?

Okay, I get the game running, but I get no sound, and no music. it's irritating because I preffer hearing SOMETHING when I play a game, especially music. so what do I need to do to make it work? set the sound to sbpro1 in dosbox or something?

Finally, I trade my original copy of StarGunner for 500bucks at EBAY!

Anyway, I'm assuming that the freeware version is already patched. By the way, good lukc trying to get it running on a PCI soundcard. Chances are it'll fart on your face and reboot your face. Until then enjoy!

Joe, you're a real tease! This is getting to me more than I had thought it would, I even had a weird dream about it
I dreamt that I downloaded all the games illegaly and I was really happy. Then, suddenly I felt very small (in Norwegian, feeling small means to feel guilty, I don't know if it's the same in English) for doing that, but I couldnt' bring myself to delete it again. Suddenly, I heard the door to my house being smashed and both Joe and Duke came into my room with VERY angry looks on their faces. Then Duke shot me with the shrinker and told me : "Now you can really feel small!".
This is not something I'm making up, it's 100% true. I can't believe this is getting into my head like that

We almost released the source code with the game. Part of the problem is locating one of the original programmers to get a legal release so we can do it. Plus Dave Pevreal said that he has to locate all of the work, I don't believe there's a functional full copy in his hands at the moment, another reason to find the other guy he was working on the game with.

It's something that's already being worked on, so PLEASE don't badger us with requests about it.

Once we realized that it would take some time to track that guy down and get the souce in a state where it could be released would take awhile, we decided to release the game now, and deal with the source code later.

I've been thinking that perhaps I shouldn't have posted that dream anyway.. it sounds too weird to be true
But it is

Anyway, Stargunner seems to be running too quickly in dosbox, if I lower the cycles it runs just as fast only choppy. Still I get the feeling the game is running too fast.

Have you run stargunner's setup program first? You have to do that and choose sound blaster in order to hear anything.

Do you have the newest version of Dosbox (sorry if you've already answered this) ?

Have you read all the docs that came with dosbox or faqs on their homepage? Perhaps the program has trouble with your soundcard and it is documented there?

Guys I checked the version of the game and noticed it's version 1.0b NOT 1.1! So all of you need to patch the game by downloading the patches from the download section.
