George, I loved Death Rally to death, it was really a very, very fun game. It reminded me of Supercars 2, an old Amiga classic. It really is a high quality title even though the graphics aren't that great and stuff like that.
It's proof that gameplay comes before graphics any day of the week.

Well, off to play my favourite FPS, Doom 3

This might be a stupid question, but what's Prey? Never heard of it. I know it's a game, but what's it about.

There's this prey forum with all kinds of threads on prey. If you can find it you can probably find some info on prey too.

Because whenever I play online games I use this shortened version and I've had that old one since 2000. Time for a change.

Dead Mans Hand sold at retail for 19.99. It had decent graphics and story and although simple the gameplay could be fun in a an old fashioned shooting gallery kind of way. I bought it and enjoyed it more than many 50 dollar big release games I've played, you have to take it for what it is.

Isn't this made by the same guys that made that POS Dead Man's Hand? Hope this one turns out a little better.
Human Head is a very talented group. One thing you should understand about making games...developers often don't have much choice in what they make, or how long they make it. The publishers control that, and if you want to eat and stay alive, you sometimes have to make games you wouldn't otherwise make, and you certainly have to ship them before they are ready.

So don't be too quick to judge based on that game. Remember that before Max Payne, Remedy made Death Rally. Certainly a quality title, but nowhere near the scope, size and quality of Max.
But isnt 3D Realms the publisher of Prey?

3D Realms is just producing the game IIRC.

Well, I think 3DR could afford to put the full game on this site and charge 1 $ via credit card for each download.

So what is your guess? 1,000,000 downloads in just one day? I think it's possible, even with Prey. And wait until DNF is released... woawoa!!!!

Maybe they can (although I seriously doubt they will )

But I hope they don't. I don't own a credit card (not required in holland an I refuse to pay for it )so I will not be able to play the game then.

Re: We\'ve got Prey!
^Well, I was joking.

No video game in the world is so heavily anticipated that it would be downloaded 1,000,000 times in one day.

Except DNF ofcourse.

P.S. And besides, it would crash any server and mirror it is hosted on, because the bandwidth and traffic would be MURDER!

It is far far away from "just" they produced Max Payne here are some quotes about what their roel was from Scott Miller:

"Just to be clear that I do not hijack improper credit, Max Payne was developed (all content and code) by Remedy Entertainment (they did all the hard work!), and produced by 3D Realms (meaning we funded a significant portion of the game, handled the publishing agreements, helped guide the game's design, helped play-tested and polished the game, handled the shareware release, and oversaw and co-designed the game's marketing)."

"With Remedy, the initial design came from them, and 3DR helped them change it such that it had all the right hooks to be a major hit (3.6 million sold and still selling). We were involved throughout the design, polishing and marketing of the game. And we paid for a substantial chunk of development (as opposed to a publisher, who advances funds, and then recoups them, thus paying zero for development in the end)."

Here is another quote:

"What role does 3D Realms have in the development of the Max Payne franchise?

It's fair to say we played a significant role in the outcome and success of the game, from concept, design, quality assistance, to marketing. That said, it was a true collaboration and neither party could have succeeded nearly as well without the input and talents of the other. Remedy's design and development expertise is world class."
