3D Realms will continue to exist, as far as I know - just not as a studio with inhouse development (aka what DNF was). But given I don't work there anymore, I can't guarantee what will happen, so I'll stop there.

I think the "possible" future of DNF is getting less "possible" day after day

You can take this to the bank: There won't be any footage newer than what was recorded for the original Jace Hall episode. It's going to be a tribute from a long time Duke Nukem and 3D Realms fan, not a forecast.

The footage isn't really much. No interactivity shown. Just kinda longer versions of the same stuff that we saw short clips of. And some strange rendering bug with a big giant beam coming out of every pigcop.

Decently funny and he parodies the Duke on Ventrilo stuff.

Its not very much, and half of it is just Jace running up to something and just looking at it (like a corner of a room or some dead body)

I watched it on crackle.com using the ultrasurf app.
It was more gameplay. The game reminds me allot of prey for some reason lol.

The footage is fine; its just not a highlight reel of the game. Every FPS ever made (including the very best ones) are filled with straight-forward stretches of run-and-gun, with relatively few scripted moments sprinkled in. Jace seemed into it.

One thing I did notice was that either the weapons were weak or the enemies were really strong. It seemed like he was really unloading on some of them, with underwhelming results. And yes, there are some remarkably Prey-like environments. But its impossible to draw many conclusions from the footage.

I just watched it a few using hotspot shield in internet explorer that was awesome footage and well worth watching.

The footage was nothing special. It was too dark to see most of what was on the screen, and the camera was too far away at times as well.

And he said they had 20 minutes worth of footage but only showed, maybe, two minutes worth...if that.

DNF is dead and will most likely stay that way.

My guess is that the rest of it was seriously not ready for prime time. You can bet that what was shown was best they had, which is a really sad statement.

If the media we've seen after all this mess is representative of the final product, that's probably a good thing.

From all the clips I've seen since 3dRealms' "restructuring" I'd have to say that the game looked like it would have been a lot of fun. Just being able to use all the old weapons of Duke Nukem would have been nostalgic. I seem to remember a clip where you're driving a truck around the desert which had a lot of color, was bright lighting, so I know the entire game isn't dark and gloomy.

Even the clip where they were showing the scripted pig cops swarming what looked like a construction site trailer was well lit. Although this footage doesn't look too sharp I'd bet they just didn't have the resolution/texturing/AA and such maxed like what some of us have the capability to do with our systems.

Hey George if you're still reading through these threads, show us some multiplayer maps, modes, menu settings even. Would be interesting to see switches for options like, No JetPacks or No Steroids, Pipe Bombs/Trip Mines Only.

Having watched it, it's obvious why it was cut originally. It's mostly just dark corridors with Jace using the chaingun on most everything (that can barely be seen due to the lighting plus the cameraman pulling out so that the screen is the size of a postage stamp much of the time).

I did like the spot where the pigcop took cover for a sec behind a crate/box. Question is, was that a scripted/staged event or does the AI have a degree of situational awareness regarding objects that could provide cover in the environment?

Crackle is pretty anal about the show being elsewhere. If it is uploaded there, expect it to be removed almost immediately.

This is just sour grapes. There's no reason to think that the media we've seen is representative of the final product. That hasn't been the impetus behind any of what's been released. Furthermore, there IS NO final product. What you're watching is about two minutes of a work-in-progress. I hope you wouldn't review a movie based on a 30-second scene from a work print, or judge a book based on a couple pages from a second draft.
