I suppose the url can be considered something of an early announcement.

edit: link has been changed for the people experiencing access problems.
Hmm, what's this? It's only 82 seconds of random, quick gameplay... I thought the 50 meg one was the full 12 minute one in higher quality

Well, both the videos are shaky-cam, and we're hosting them both. One is the 10 minute demo, the other is a 1 minute "HD" video, featuring some new footage.

The entire 12 minute presentation is not available as far as I know.

Awwe

Heh, and I was really getting my hopes up to see the whole thing in higher quality... guess we still have to play the waiting game, heh

But one thing I do have to say, in the HD version, his grandfather certainly looks a LOT better than in the shakycam version - probably because you get to see the shadows upon his face, which give it more detail.

My E3 buddy just told me he got the *entire* video on tape, so once he gets that uploaded - and I don't have an exact time - we'll host it.

edit: by the way, he referred to Prey as "the show stopper."

BTW, did he mention how the quality was?

That's great to hear. We've been hearing some nice things from fans and people that saw the video.

The best thing that can happen now is to get the gameplay videos spread so more people can see them. Thanks for your efforts.

George, don't you think it would be an even BETTER thing if you released the 20 minute demo in high quality so we can spread it (and put battlelords in DNF)?

There is no 20 minute video. Gamespot reported a 20 minute presentation, but the official word is 12 minutes. My guess is that the video was longer than most teasers shown at E3, so Gamespot probably thought it was longer than it really was.

Or they rounded up instead of down

Interesting strategy, no hyping (and no work in this area) from the producer, just from the fans which are spreading a shakycam video over the internet....
Possibly that´s more effective that giving everyone a 2 minute trailer, imo many people think that shakycam videos are "illegal" and as a result, more interesting than normal trailers

the video is a lot longer than 12 minutes, 100% sure, because the camera stopped recording in the middle of the movie, look at the fileshack movies, there are some scenes in it you haven't seen in the 12 minutes, but are from the e3 prey movie.

The fileshack movie contains a lot of the same, and a little more. Some of the scenes are played differently, which obviously means they're two seperate recordings. None of the new scenes we see in the HD trailer *have* to appear at the end of the 10:45 second trailer we've all seen. It was confirmed here that the video cut out with about a minute left on the clock, and from what I hear part of that minute includes a little talking from the old man in both trailers.

I don't really have an ETA on the vid, but from what I hear the quality is good, my friend's hand was steady, and it's the entire demonstration.

I'm pretty excited to see it myself

Isn't it possible for the HH guys that are at E3 to make a direct feed video? Those shakycam vids really don't make it justice. Prey needs to be seen in all it's glory.

Sure, HH could do that, but the video they had was designed for the press to see - not you. I think most companies would like their material to be perfectly edited/presented when it reaches a consumer. The press is used to dealing with and writing about unfinished material, so they're trusted to give us a reasonably knowledgable take on the game. Like George said, some of that stuff is just unfinished - it's not something they want their consumers to see because a lot of us are quick to judge these things as "final" material, and even base our purchase decisions off of first impressions.

Our intent is to release high quality footage of this after E3 at some point.

Damn.

Looked nice. I'm pleasantly surprised. I hereby retract my Doom3 comparisons. I think I saw a little of 3DR's influence on HH there... where the little critter gets his leg torn off... ?? GB??

...looks good tho. Something to look forward to.

Ah yes, that trailer looked good, but I prefer the prey one, showed more stuff and gives a better view of the gameplay, oblivion basically only show the graphics (which are beautifull btw. )

I would love a high quality trailer, but I am happy the shaky-cam exists.

(p.s. hurry up with the full version allready. )

George, why not just release the HD vid now? People are talking about it now, people are forming their impressions of the game now, best to just put it out and put your best foot forward.

Because George doesn't have it yet. They're too busy at E3 to dump it into a movie file. Whenever they do dump it, they should just seed a torrent and let it spread that way quickly.

-- Edit --

8? wasn't it more like 2 or even less? put on hold in 99 and HH supposedly started like 2001 or so. But to the public I guess you could say its been mia since 98 which makes it 7. Actualy that only makes you of by one if that's what you meant.

I'm sure that's what he meant. For example, despite development on DNF having been restarted, a lot of people refer to 97 as its genesis. It's purely point-of-view.

That said, it's excellent that since Prey's recent unveiling, it's on its way in such a short time! 2006 is right around the corner as far as I'm concerned, and given what we've seen in the footage it should be well worth *any* wait.

edit: slightly off-topic, but I'm excited to see what Chris and the other HH developers think of the general reaction to their work here. I can imagine how worried they might be about showing off Prey considering its unique gameplay.
