If they still use the console commands from the Unreal Engine, there should be a third person command, like in the UT games.

Actually it'll be in an all new view "In your face".

That's right, you play the whole game of DNF while looking right into Duke's face. The fun of watching his expressions as he gets shot at and kicked in the crotch while you try to dodge attacks and fight aliens. It's so awesome!

I hate Third-Person Perspective games. I'm deeply surprised that there's so many of them (and on a side note, I'm even more surprised that developers always choose TPP for survival horror games...). The only TPP game I enjoyed was Max Payne 2. And I said that because there's not much more I can say. DNF will be in first-person and that's perfect.

Yes. Third person is bad like a cancer. Especially when it creeps up in games previously known for being first person (I'm looking at you, BiA: Hell's Highway).

There's no reason it can't have both. Many games feature this, including the beloved Elder Scroll's Oblivion. Having both would be the best option.

I might be wrong, but there's more than just putting in a third person perspective simply because it can be done, since it has to be balanced and utilised properly for that type of game. There's nothing saying it can't be put in at all, but if it's not implemented in a way that's going to enhance the experience, then it's more of a novelty rather than a real means to play the game. Just my thoughts on it.

Thats the idea, its just a novelity. One which doesnt hurt anything. In DN3D all it was was a novel there for those who wanted it, no big deal really.

For some people. For others like me when I'm in a vehicle I like fps I wanna see the steering wheel and the seat next to me if i go to look to the right. or the back seats if i look behind me.

Third person would pretty much just allow cheating in both singleplayer and multiplayer by looking around corners, although i'm up for a fly-by spectator camera like the old Rainbow Six games... Actually I think Duke Nukem 3D had a fly-by camera too.

I hope there's a 3rd person view that you can switch to in SP but not in MP and you can use it also in vehicles so it's easier to steer.
And a pause camera like in Max Payne would be cool too. If there's a stripper nearby the camera should circle around her. Also whenever Duke get's a lap dance you should be able to switch camera to get a better view.

Hah! First and third person are so last century!

The game will be entirely second-person perspective, with the screen always showing a picture of a monitor and keyboard framing a little window with the game in it. Fully rendered hands move the mouse and use they keyboard as you do.

Console versions will have a lounge room and big-screen TV, with the remains of a pizza on the coffee table.
