FRAPS and Mapster

I wanted to make some Mapster-tutorial videos with FRAPS. But everytime it crashes, when I switch from 2D to 3D mode. And the only thing it recorded when I was in 2d mode it was a grey screen.
Is there any way to avoid this problem with Fraps or any other recording tool. I know I saw a speedbuilding video by DavoX on Youtube where it worked perfectly (dunno if it was Fraps).

And I´m using Mapster with the HRP textures (maybe there´s the problem).

Fraps can record video only in 3D mode (since it was created for games).
You should use another screen capture tool to record video in 2D Mapster.

Which is a good one? I remember reading about one not so long ago, but I forgot the name.

Yes , it is good tool, I have tried HyperCam in the past. But it costs $39.95.
You may try to find free tools - http://camstudio.org , or others.
