Speech Stuttering

Some excerpts of speech will just randomly get cut out in gameplay. But the amount of sound channels and my audio hardware acceleration are both on their max settings. Is there anything I can do?

lower the sound channels. since if you have selected more sound channels in the game than you're card can handle then some sounds might be cut out when the game tries to play a new sound. so sometimes a gun sound or a speech osund might get disrupted(spl?)

Unfortunetly that doesnt help. Its just as bad.

My sound card is apparently an Avance AC'97 audio. I dont know one sound card from the next so I dont know if thats good or bad. Should I get a new one?
