Keen and the Moon Stone again
Uhhh... Well. Since everything's being redrawn, this is the new Keen. I tried to keep all the features of the old Keen the same, as well as the colors. If you think it can be improved, remember to tell us!

Also be sure to visit www.hoborg.co.uk/keen for the latest news and updates. Currently only the main and Making of pages work. Under construction, but take a peek anyway.

I will. But I still need more project members. And speaking of steady progress, I drew that last night. And colo(u)red it this morning

Re: Keen and the Moon Stone again
OK people! Keen and the Moon Stone specs:

* Parallaxing
* EVERYTHING redrawn in 32 bit color.
* Lighting
* Day to night cycles
* Smart AI enemies
* Oodles of mini games
* More enemies
* a bloog as a playable character
* World map contains many more puzzles,
as well as monorails, teleporters and
other cool stuff!

Of course all this will only come possible with more project members. Reply for more info. Anything else I should add?

Also sadly oracle edit has been removed. However I will be making the MMF/TGF code available if anyone has that so you can still make your own levels.

Also, if you submit level designs to us at [email protected] in 2 color gif format, we will add them to the game and credit you.

Nope, Keen's flesh tones were SUPPOSED to be a more tan color. Look on the front of the GT box for Goodbye Galaxy.

Yes, well, they are sort of white...

I'm sure they could've fit pink into the colour pallette of the original games if he was meant to be pink!

Keen doesn't have to be white. Look how elegantly it has been done in Mystery of Isis II:

Yes, that is pretty good. However if they're gonna do that, change the rest of his colors, too. I've brightened my Keen drawing, too. It was a little washed out before.

You can edit the EGA colour pallette in the same way as the VGA (I know, I tried it out). It's fully possible to have a skin-tone colour in EGA. Keen just uses the default EGA pallette.

Re: Keen and the Moon Stone again
hmmmm, nope. Albinos don't have white faces. But they do have red eyes and white hair. Look on the box, Keen has purpleish eyes and brown/red hair.

Either way, pink wasn't possible in EGA 16 color mode. The only pink was that horrible stuff that people now use for transparency in GIFs, if you know what I mean. Keen was probably made white so the bright pink wouldn't clash with the pink backdrops.

Can someone from id answer here? Oh, I forgot. I'm sorry, they must be sitting there in their offices making games with ridiculous system requirements, thinking people will upgrade just to play their games.

Anyway...

Let's not get too wild here. I don't think they'll actually be making games, just playing Q3A.

To the point, all of these are fan-made, and have nothing to do with the originals or with the (hopefully) sequel.

Hoborg, Don't be offended, But I think that Picture sux, the art itself is nice, but Keen's supposed to be a genius, and that guy looks like he's mentally challenged.

Afraid not yet. Thre is an ancient
LameKMS at www.hoborg.co.uk/keen/build2.zip,
which was released ages ago. It's
tragically pathetic, only download if you
have nothing else to do.

That is a sign of inner genius. The
Keen on the front of the GT box doesn't look
that smart, it looks very cartoonish. The
Keen 6 box, (the alternate one) is too
realistic, and Keen looks to smart, which I
think sucked. That's why I didn't draw it
like that. (Would you rather I changed KMS
into a Bill Gates fan game?!)

Considering Corebrainz comment maybe you should draw more concepts of Keen for us to look at: there's no erason to think you should get it right the first time.

Re: Keen and the Moon Stone again
HA HA, that's true, The realistic looking picture doesn't look too good, looks boring actually. I just think you should improve it a bit, meaning make him look like the original, but with better graphics. Look at him in 1-3, then look at him in 4-6, then probably some designs on his shirt, mess around a bit with different looks. Still, I'm really happy someone's making a high quality keen game. Keep up the good work.

P.S. I still think he looks like he's retarded or has some sort of other mental sickness.

Ahh, I'm glad someone commented on that. I was gonna, but I didn't because of... something... that picture does look like he's a retard. When I first saw it I said to myself "please don't let that be a picture of Keen." ..but sure enough, it was.

Re: Keen and the Moon Stone again
Yeah man, you can't make a game with a genius
that looks like a retard. I'm not saying that he should look like a nerd,just make him look the way he did on the game titles, with a bit of a more modern look (Baggy clothes, designs on shirt, New wrist computer, etc.)

P.S. Game Dude, I think it's free, that's not for me to answer.

That Keen's helmet also looks more like a banana peel to me, you might like to fix that as well

Why not try some others and post them on this forum, see what other people think?

Does fan made game have any meaning for you? He can't possibly charge for it, he shouldn't even be making it probably, unless Hoborg is from iD (which I doubt seeing as he's from the UK).

Some improvement has been made on that 'gut' (guy)Although he still looks like he has some sort of disorder or something. But I guess you're determined to keep him looking like that. It's your project. The skill of you're art is impressive, but the retarded noodle head keen you drew is awful, well good luck.
