How do you imagine the plot for DNF?

I imagine it will go something like this:

Duke is in Vegas enjoying himself, when the aliens invade. On TV, programmes are replaced by messages from Doctor Proton, saying he led every alien invasion through technology he stole at Area 51. Duke then runs around Vegas killing aliens, then he borrows a ride from someone to reach Area 51. After driving for a while in the highway, Duke realizes that the aliens control the streets so it's impossible to reach Area 51 directly. Duke decides to deviate to Arizona, to reach Area 51 through the desert. He reaches the ghost town of Morningwood, where he meets Gus. Gus suggests Duke to go down the Grand Canyon, toward Lake Mead and into the mines, which will allow him to enter the underground part of Area 51 directly. Duke borrows Gus's ass (haha) and finally breaches into Area 51. He kicks a lot of ass there, but a message lets him know that Doctor Proton is "nowhere on this planet". So Duke steals a UFO and reaches Doctor Proton in his space station. He almost kicks his ass, but Doctor Proton flees to Vegas with a spacecraft. In Vegas, the final battle unfolds, Duke is victorious and DNF ends.

Well... yeah... seems good. I also would like to see some kind of side stories, like if you don't blow this facility/blow a dam and flood area full of aliens under it/shoot down an alien mothership from the orbit etc. the Earth will be done for. You know, some stressing factor that won't let you catch your breath...

Nice plot, personally I don't care to much about the plot, as long as Duke can win.

Definitely! Not side-missions as such, but, like you say, various skirmishes between EDF and the aliens, or alien attempts to blow up buildings and stuff that you need to defuse before you can continue on your larger quest to defeat Proton or whoever.

Damn, I'm a sucker for a good story, and I'm sure if they had a solid plot in there somewhere I'd play it with a much more keen eye than if it was just straight out shooting. There needs to be something fairly enjoyable and epic in scope planned, otherwise it'd feel directionless and meaningless imo.

The plot is one of the things I'm hoping there to be some focus on. It's been five years, so it should be set in stone by now.

Well actually, they´ve been writing the story for 9 years. I heard a rumor that the game sometimes halts with the text "read pages x-y in the manual then press continue". Too much story to create the content.

Good plot Altered Reality, but I'm sure the DNF we all know from the E3 trailer is gone and huge changes have be done since then.

4. The aliens will no longer will have an ass to kick.

Aliens will do a boner, then Duke will answer with another boner. And there is the EDF soldiers doing another boner with some experiences. Duke will have to stop all these boners that pulled out the ultimate boner of earth. Then he will have to fight the chicks because they have bonnered with aliens.

And so ends the boner of aliens, when duke nukem put his foot on the arnus of the great one eyed alien bastard cyclope. \o/

I want it to have a strong action-movie plot with professional structuring and coherent themes. I won't settle for anything less. Wish I could play Prey to experience the concepts they implement for their stories.

I think it should go like this:
When the alien invasion begins. After running out of his favorite gum and his favorite ride being shot down Duke becomes a man with nothing to loose takes revenge against the aliens bastards in an emotional film-noir sort of way and at the end suffers from depression realizing that he is still out of gum in the end.

Assuming that the storyline hasn't changed since the E3 2001 trailer, that's probably what it will be. I think there were other things to the story too, like the aliens kidnapping the President, Dr. Proton cloning the EDF soldiers, and alien bugs possessing humans (kind of like the headcrabs from Half-Life).

They are just holding it back, until it's ready, like they did with Prey...
Who the hell knew it was being made in secret, in several years, and look now, it's actually there, even though, everyone thought it was dead...

It's the same case with DNF, just, in this case, we know it still exists... So people are getting mad and all...

The same would have happend with Prey, if it wasn't kept secret that it was developed over the years...

It would all be better, if we just ignored DNF by now, untill media, or (REAL) info was released...

True. But maybe they should have spilled the beans a bit more, it might have given prey the extra kick it could use. But on the other hand, it still turned out great so who knows what is best

The aliens steal the final version of DNF. The entire game Duke is trying to get it back. When he did he starting to play the game. But when the game is about to begin Duke sees Joe's face saying WID.

I hope that this will be a Big Alien Takeover... where 3DRealms will try and show that the whole world (not just america) is being taken over by aliens...

I hope they have a grand scale attack in which maybe Duke Could try and kick arse on earth as well as get aboard their ship and smack some arse their on their ship....

i don't want to see any of this "The aliens are polluting the water supply" crap... I want total destruction kind of like Independence day, where 3DRealms show that these aliens have no mercy and will obliterate anything in their path.

THATS WHAT I WANT TO SEE!!!! Hopefully.... (Not that I'll be disappointed if it doesn't).
