[MP2] Semi-Official Prefab Library

Needed this for my own level, WIP? Do what you will with this (can't believe I had to make a pipe elbow - prefabs makers unite and share the love!)

Very nice, cool design. An old school TV is always good for ghetto levels and such. Mob war is easily my favorite level. Keep up the good work Ghast.

Hey, do you have a prefab of a bed? The bed in the screenshot from one of your CDC projects looks real good. I just can't seem to detail or scale one correctly...

Made this for an abandoned Silent Hill inspired motel level. Was to have pillow/non-pillow rumpled versions too. Remedy's headboard texture is better than mine? A realistic size is hard to determine. Floor to scale, wall orientation bigger, ceiling biggest approach questionable?
Some better beds/bed textures from the community would be sweet! Plan to do one still that flips up and away into wall *LOL*

Two this time, use as you like, sometimes a little extra detail is nice? Trying to make sense of Remedy's door prefab which swings a tad wide for my taste, but there is probably a good reason?

Re: [MP2] Semi-Official Prefab Library
Ok, I've decided to pin this topic so that we can store all the MaxEd prefabs in one place.

If this takes off, it will hopefully allow mappers to find and submit prefabs quickly and easily. So in future, if you're going to post a prefab, please post it here so that users of the forum can find them easily.

Some general guidelines:
  • If you can, post a small image of the prefab
  • Try to stick to.pre format, rather than lv2.
  • Feel free to post links to prefabs and prefab sites
  • Lets try and keep this thread for uploading prefabs only, don't go off-topic with idle chit-chat or arguments about credit. Comments and crits are welcome, but I don't want to see like 1 prefab per page.
  • Also, no discussions on the morality of prefab usage (*cough* biXen *cough* ) - don't spoil this thread for everyone else.
  • Don't be selfish, keep this thread alive.

More detailed guidlines on touchy issues like credit, redistribution, etc.

Quote:

- NO OFF TOPIC POSTING.

Keep this thread strictly for posting DOWNLOADABLE prefabs. If it's not available to download, here, or elsewhere, don't post. Otherwise the post and this whole thread is a waste of space and will be deleted.

-WHICH PREFABS?

This was mainly intended for MaxED prefabs, but kf2 meshes and animations are welcome too. If it's related to Max Payne modding, and you think it might be of use to other people, upload it.

Limit it to objects though -- tutorials, videos, code, mods and the like should be posted in a new topic.

-WHERE CAN I UPLOAD PREFABS?

The forum lets you upload files up to a maximum file size of about 100kb. Over that, and you'll have to find your own file hosting.

Having said that, I'm pretty sure that if you ask biXen, or someone at Levels4You they'll gladly host it for you. Failing that, try asking other prefab makers (via pm) where they get their file hosting.

-COMMENTS, QUESTIONS, FEEDBACK, CRITS, ETC

If you want feedback or wip suggestions, create a new topic for it. When it's ready for download, link it here so people can find it quickly.

If you have a question or comment, either pm the person it's aimed at, or create a new thread for it. I don't want this thread to get clogged up with idle chit-chat. (Again )

-TERMS & CONDITIONS

Alright, use some common sense here guys.

All prefabs posted here will be assumed to be available for royalty free, non-commercial use only, unless stated otherwise. That means a user can download and do whatever they want with it, provided that they do not attempt to make a profit out of it.

In other words, I don't want to see selfish conditions tacked onto prefabs (like, "you can't use it with this type of mod", etc). If you're not happy with this then simply don't upload it.

-REDISTRIBUTION

Regarding redistribution (i.e. sites like Paynereactor and L4Y uploading mirrors): Sites should be free to upload mirrors to prefabs without having to ask; provided that:

-The author doesn't state otherwise
-It's available by non-comercial/non-profit means (i.e. it's free to download )
-The file is identical to the original
-The original author MUST be credited, if known. If the author is not known, then you state this and leave it open for them to claim/prove authorship.

If you release a modified version of another author's prefab, you should credit them also.

-CREDIT

Regarding distribution in levels and mods: It is common courtesy to credit/thank the authors who took the time to make the prefabs you're using. However it is understandable that this is not always possible and/or practical.

With this in mind, I think it's fair that the user should credit prefab authors to the extent that *they* feel is sufficient. In other words, it is not necessary to list every single prefab used and their author; however it would be advised that you try to list the names of the authors, or as biXen mentioned, list where you got them from so that other users can look them up themselves.

Either way, you're encouraged to make some kind of effort. Also if you happen to modify someone else's prefab, you would be advised to credit them also.

In addition, authors of prefabs are encouraged to supply some sort of documentation, in the form of a readme file, or as a comment in an FSM (you can do comments with #).

-PLAGERISM

What isn't acceptable is plagiarism. That is, claiming credit for work that is not your own. It's normally easy to spot, and often frowned at. You do so at your own risk.

Before you start witch hunting, be sure you know the difference between the two. Plagiarism is falsely claiming credit, and is punishable by death. ;0 Merely forgetting to credit someone isn't.

Again use some common sense and courtesy here. If you're going to be selfish, or picky over who gets to use your prefabs then you may as well not bother posting them.

Thanks

Heeeey... I'm all for it sister

Just a note to everyone. If you have packs like Uisor's can prefabs, or cereal prefabs and want to have them hosted somewhere, zip it all up (preferably with thumbnails) and send it to my PayneReactor email (you can find it on my site).

If you have single prefabs and want to host them I'd love that too. I'm trying to get a lot of it in there. But no single files without images thanks.

I'll be releasing some prefabs myself, but not before the level is done, or I'll be giving too much away too soon

Re: [MP2] Semi-Official Prefab Library
Well this ain't exactly a prefab but i guess no one has a thing against tri-meshes Couldn't find the Remedy tri-meshes from mp2 so i made a forklift from the warehouse level.

The attachment includes a .max file for modellers to fiddle with (you can do what ever you want with it as long as you give me credit), both forklift and it's low-poly collision as .asi and in case you don't have ldbrip, both textures are included also. Btw, all the uvw maps in .max file have been sorted, so all you have to do is add textures. Have fun

Download Here!

NOTE: I don't know how long the file will be there, so if you have a prefab database or such you are welcome to put the forklift in there.

weird_physical_table.pre
weird_physical_table_w_decals.pre

weird_physical_table.pre is closest to collision correct for physics requirements but needs to have decals off. Can be pushed around by player

weird_physical_table_w_decals.pre floats a bit though legs have short collision meshs.
I love decals but sometimes MaxED2 doesn't like complex collision meshes? This table is also judged heavier by physics, so only grenades budge it?

Re: [MP2] Semi-Official Prefab Library
I've modified the Guard Tower 2004 and made a military tower....features:

First floor:
  • Many windows to shoot from and 4 mounted machine guns

Second Floor:
  • There is a laptop on the center and if you activate it, some bulletproof glasses will cover the windows
There is a sliding door, only 1 button to open or close it (the button is inside the tower)
A security camera where you can see the other side of the door
    Some boxes to store weapons

Third Floor:
  • Again the laptop which activates bulletproof stuff

Roof:
  • Just a place to the snipers

Stairs:
  • Some places to cover from

I've spent 2 hours in this thing, i hope you all like it, there must be some minor errors but i don't think that will be a problem....See atachment for screenshot....

Mirror - LVL2 Version, if you want to test the prefab first.

Edit: Mirror - PRE Version

Here is a camera wich has a rifle attached to it, basically when the camera "see" you, it will shoot, but really the camera don't have to see you, it's just when the trigger is activated by the player, it shoots, also if you shoot the camera, it will explode then it wont shoot anymore, when you place it in your map, just move the big trigger where you want to, so when the player touch it, it will activate the rifle and shoot...

Sorry for my english, it sucks....

Bored with the same old doors? Wanna make a submarine? Or a Ship? Or a classic deserted spaceship?
Well I got bored too.............and so I made this for beginners who want to make this kind of levels.
The texture is made by me in Photoshop using the official "Flaky_metal" texture as the base texture. And its 100% MAXED .
For gameplay purpose, I made it like u can see thro the small window opening, but u cant shoot thro them. Also I think they cant see u too. Also to avoid complexity, I didn't make it like you can close the door. Because thats not needed in MP2(its not hitman and u dont need to hide urself or drag a body :P).
It will be released with a set of 4 types of door:-
1> The normal functionable door.
2> A fake door. U just need to have the empty space of the correct dimension and place it. Its more like something to make ur rooms non-empty.Also its nicely dummy-ied.
3> An always openned door to the left.(depending on the situation)
4> An always openned door to the right ..(depending on the situation)
I hope I'll be able to release it lately today.
And here's a shot of it.

Ya. Should have thought about it b4. Actually thats a Hitman inspired subM/ship door. Guys who have played Hitman/HM Contracts might find it similar. Though in HM the handles were made out of texture only.

Actually torus it is usually called.

Quote:
How did you make that donut-shaped thing?
It is just a simple pipe mainipulation. The tougher part is to calculate the pipe extrude in such a way that at some point they will meet from where it started. Frankly speaking it was impossible for me to do that torus without the help of a bit of mathematics and the use of diagrams with a protactor too.........

@ Others:

Please I'm sorry and I do apologise for the delay. I'm stuck in a personal work of mine.I'll be posting the prefab as soon as its completed and I get some free time.

Re: [MP2] Semi-Official Prefab Library
Well actually you can do it pretty easy.

The shaped makes a turn of 360 degrees.

We want it to be detailed and looking round so we use 10 parts of pipe for it. 10 parts of pipe mean that the deltaAngle between two parts of pipe must be 36 degrees.
So just make a pipe. Copy it and place it on top of the other pipe. Rotate it 36 degrees on the right vertex (to the inside of the torus). Now extrude the endings of the pipe that lay together each 18 degrees, and now just continue that process. Finally you will have a torus shape.
