Is it a smart move to program a website in Ajax?
For my personal music site, my webcoder is interested in using Ajax. Should I go ahead with that?

Depends if it's on the visitors side, or on the admin's side.
If it's only admin side then go for it. If it's on the visitors side then you should consider that ajax elements don't register in search engines. |

Depends on what it's for. Google's spider doesn't support JavaScript, so if your site isn't traversable without the AJAX, then your indexing will go down the toilet.

If it's a personal website, it doesn't matter does it.

lol, would depend on if your programmer is wanting to do a "learning" project that you will pay for or if you have some actual needs that are not supported by conventional means.

It's a site for my personal music, like a band website. I will eventually sell mp3s and related merchandise on it, promote live performances, and I'd like it to be indexed by search engines.
