3D modeling ( n00b qustion )
okay, i know nuthing of 3D modeling pretty much, but i want to learn and give a hand in the duke 3d hi-res community.

now i have gotten blender 3d, but i would like to know if it is good to use for the Hi-Res Duke replacements, and if it is can some one walk me through on what to do to be able to export .md3 and point me in a direction of good tutorials for blender 3d ( or what programs u suggest ).

now i don't have alot of $$$ so im mainly looking for free / low cost applications to do the trick.

thank you for your time.

If you have never done any map making for Duke3d or in this case never done any modeling, you are a noob

you download the program and realize that you cant even move around in the screen. then you look at the tutorial which says how to.
noob's are people who know nothing about the topic, that is anyone who hasnt read a tutorial or learned on their own, which is alot of people.

I'm going to have to put this in my sig!!!

Here are two excellent tuts on game modelling with blender.
Shows how to make a model, extrude faces and points and all that good shtuff.

The second one shows how to unwrap the 'skin' so that you can send it to an paint program. That one will expire soon as it is going over to another server.

Blender does have a steep learning curve, but these tutorials really got me started.

But here is the first one

http://www.gamedev.net/reference/art/features/blender1/

and the second.

http://www.yodasworld.net/blenderTuts/partTwoHIDE.html

The reason these are so good is that they are specifically aimed at making game models, which are subtley different from making 'standard' models for rendering etc.
