3ds max shaders into unreal
Im just wondering if any one here is experienced with getting shaders from a particular modeling software (3ds max in this case) into the unreal engine to texture meshes with.
I know it can be done with the compressed collaberation with stuff like difuse maps., opacity bump maps and all that but what im doing is a bit different. I got a cell shaded shader that i made in max, using fall off etc and i have no idea how to get it into unreal. i know cell shading can be achieved with the unreal engine as XIII was made from unreal. anyone experienced with this kinda thing and knows how to do it ? thankx MeTT |

Re: 3ds max shaders into unreal
You have to redo the shader in ued I am afraid. You can't realy export the max shaders to unreal. Shaders in Unreal Engine 2 works a lot differently then in max. Only thing you can export from max and use in unreal is maps.

Re: 3ds max shaders into unreal
No it's not code based just a lot different and not to user friendly IMO. The ue3 shader editor looks to be awsome though. Much more like what you find in aps like maya and max.
Check http://wiki.beyondunreal.com/wiki/ and http://udn.epicgames.com/Two/WebHome to learn how it works. |
