Re: [MP2] Tutorial Update 0.7 - Skins, bones, & more
Hey I have implemented the running and standing shootdodges, where the stand shoot dodge is a drunken one. But for some reason his armjacket choose another path than his hands.

And how can we export the _mov files?

Also the tutorial decribes "MP2_SaveLoad" for saving and loading a skin's vertex wieghts. I can't find the plugin or maxscript for this, so I can't create an Icon for it. Does anyone know where its located?

On the toolbar press Biped Animation V2 or something like that.. Then you will export a normal KF2 and after that a _mov KF2... Get it?

Re: [MP2] Tutorial Update 0.7 - Skins, bones, & more
HEY GANG!

Sorry I've been away from the forums for a bit, school stuff. Umm....about the vertex weighting tool. I never really got it to work myself, I had to weight all the vertices per vertex in vertex sub-object mode of the physique modifier. So basically when you initialize the physique modifier you have to turn off creat envelopes and then assign everything manually....which is a super pain in the butt

I'll go through the remedy tutorial sometime soon and see if I can get everything working, iorn out the kinks I guess. I'll also look into the scripts that arn't working and see if that can be fixed. The scripts are really conditional, with no real error checking.

Okay everybody, I found the problem with the vertex weighting tool. Remedy forgot to mention that there using some external library thingy called physiqueOps. :P

Just download the attachment and place the "IPhysique.gup" file in your "3dsmax5\stdplugs" directory and the vertex weight tool should work fine now. I havn't tried the other scripts I was having problems with yet. I'll keep at it and see if I can get them working.

I found some machines at the college I can use.....can one of you post full screenshots of some of those options or buttons mentioned in the tut? I don't have acces to character studio tuts.

Re: [MP2] Tutorial Update 0.7 - Skins, bones, & more
Also I finally found out the function of C_jump. It's kinda embarassing that I found it out just now since I have been coding for 1 year now. C_Jump doesn't only move the character mesh up but also it's bounding box. That's why my character didn't have correct collision detection and probably wrong camera views. I still need to find out a way to move the bounding box over the lenght of the character, i.e. when a character dodges it's bounding moves to his head, for walljumpin I need one that moves to it's feet.

One thing I can say about general remedy plugin errors is that you are missing something in your scene, just like for animation you miss the dummy boxes in the exportpose file so you have to use the walk animation for animatal export.

Re: [MP2] Tutorial Update 0.7 - Skins, bones, & more
Well I always looked at it vaguely since I never used it. Because MP also used the [Position] tags I thought it was a combination between C_Jump and [Position] that moved the character up and down. I am still not sure how they worked together and how the _mov.kf2 relates to the old [Position]. Maybe position is for X and Z.

Re: [MP2] Tutorial Update 0.7 - Skins, bones, & more
the movement commands are no longer used in MP2, instead they use _mov.kf2 to give the movement in an animation file. Hence you see the animation and another file with the same name (or similar) with a _mov extension.

Re: [MP2] Tutorial Update 0.7 - Skins, bones, & more
Yeah I know. But why do they still use C_Jump+a _mov where you can still move in the y direction. You can get realistic gravity into the _mov files too if they wanted.
It seems a bit to sloppy from them.

ok make sure you've got CS 4.1. Have you installed the extra plugin Nukee supplied us with (further back in this thread)? Does the Remedy physique tool work?

Double check that all plugins are installed correctly.

Also are you using the export_pose or modelling_pose file? If so ignore them and use the walking example animation file to do all your anims as the script is probably after the export dummy boxes.

Ignore the saveing and loading of vertex wieghts also, it don't work at all, just use physique

Re: [MP2] Tutorial Update 0.7 - Skins, bones, & more
I've got everything installed correctly, CS 4.1 SP1, 3DMax5.1 and so on.

I downloaded the plugins Nukee made and poped them in there... No noticeable difference. The remedy Physique Tool is... Well, I've got the icons and I've gotten a window with lists of bones and links and whatnot, but I haven't done anything with it.
I am henceforth using the walking model for my animating, but I still can't export using the V2 Biped exporter, so no _mov files for me.
