Problem with Birth episode.
Hi. I have a problem with Shop-n-Bag sub-episode of Birth episode. When i open the yellow door i don't see the button on the ceiling to open the grid! I installed the High Resolution Pack : that's the problem? Bye.

I'm pretty sure all the buttons are models in the HRP, but in case turning off models doesn't make it appear, then try turning off hi-res textures as well. Please don't come back and say you have an edited map in which the button is missing.

Thanks!!! I turned off the models and the button has magically appeared! Why this? How to fix this error?

Re: Problem with Birth episode.
You must have made some kind of mistake. When you are using maphacks properly, this ceiling switch (sprite #225) is defined to use highres texture instead of model. It's working for me flawlessly, so you are either using no maphacks or something else is wrong with your settings. I suggest turning off "Model Occlusion Checking" in case you have activated it. [However, like I said, that specific switch is no model when using maphacks, so it's rather a maphacks issue.]
You can clearly see that the switch hack is included when checking E4L3 maphacks in the wiki. Scroll down and see the line "sprite 225 notmd". That's the line that does what I wrote above. And everything on that site is totally identical with what you should have in your autoload\duke3d.grp dir when using HRP installer (speaking of "maphacks.zip"). Generally, some ceiling-aligned models are causing problems - the speakers in the same map (E4L3) are another example for that. The only solution right now is to use maphacks and have highres textures in place to override the concerned models.

Re: Problem with Birth episode.
I'm using also the XXX Pack : is this pack in conflict with the original HRP? It's the only addition to DN.

Re: Problem with Birth episode.
That's simply impossible. The XXX Packs just contain some override textures for some babe model skins or posters, nothing that would affect any model at all.

Re: Problem with Birth episode.
But the HRP is still compressed in a zip file! I don't make any modify to this file.
The readme file contains this information : HRP SVN #300 (02-25-2009) What is the exact name of this sprite 225 and his path in duke3d_hrp.zip file? |

Re: Problem with Birth episode.
It has nothing to do with duke3d_hrp.zip as that is only the content. The problem you have is due to the map hack Nightfright mentioned is missing. If you don't have the maphack you will get this problem due to a problem with alignment of ceiling based models.

Re: Problem with Birth episode.
Yes, and by the way. Latest HRP v4 is SVN #321, so you may consider downloading the final version. It would not make any difference regarding your problem, however. Unless you download the installer and let it do its magic work.
My theory is you downloaded the test version and somehow managed to get files into the wrong place. I don't remember whether I included maphacks with the pre-final version or not, but even if I did, there's still a good chance to mess things up. What this is all about is maphacks.zip, not duke3d_hrp.zip. After everything is in place, I am almost 100% certain your problem will be fixed, because the maphacks will be where they belong to, then.
