\"Hmm, that\'s one DooMed space marine\"
Wow I just found out about this a few days ago, I haven't owned duke 3d for very long, just got past battlelord (he wasn't as hard as I thought, yet I did die acouple times). But in lvl 3, I got curious, touched the evil face, and boom, I felt like I was in doom 3 with doom 64 creepy noises going off, after I killed the octobrain, I found the screwed marine and after hearing duke, I laughed. I blasted thru the marine, grabbed the Ripper (machine gun), and moved on....

Can 3drealms get sued for something like this? I coulda sworn I heard that exact same noise from doom 64, or some other doom game, and wasn't that using on of id's characters? I dunno, but was it legal? Oh, and was there any other easter eggs in this game you guys can tell me about? (if there is any), Thx.

Sounds come from a free domain cd that many companies and movies use. Hell, watch too much tv and you'll hear Doom sounds everywhere!

As for the marine, its a parody. Parodies are done all the time with things like Austin Powers and Duke Nukem is full of them.

I don't remember what they are right now, but there are these brown creatures in Heretic that scratch you when they get close. They have this really creepy scream, and I hear it all the time on TV. It--like some of the DOOM sounds--is probably from a PD sound effects library.

Quake uses the same noise that the pigcops in duke use when they see you. I heard the sound the liztroops in duke make in another game. Maybe Hexen. Sounds are in a lot of games.

I hear the Door opening sound from doom in every B movie that involves space.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the guys at id and 3DR pal around(They've worked together on Commadner Keen titles and actually swapped production on Wolfenstein I'm pretty sure) so I'm sure id knew about it, and if not, they thought it was funny when they found out.

Well yeah they can do that if they let the next doom be called DOOM Forever.

I've heard a sound from Aliens which sounds EXACTLY like a sound from Aliens vs. Predator 2...

Yeah, and then Doom fans wouldn't get a sequel for 8-10 years! I think it's funny that at the end of Duke 3D Atomic it says: "Look for a Duke 3D sequel soon"!

well, actually the original DNF was a sidescroller just like manhattan project so it's pretty much what they had in mind for a sequel to Duke3D (at least that's how it seems to me).

Re: \"Hmm, that\'s one DooMed space marine\"
yeah but it was announced that dnf WAS NOT nearly going to be the same sidescroller that manhatten project was, also, manhatten project wasn't even made by 3drealms..... so no way is that a duke sequel, just another side duke game.
