"play" button & title screen freeze fix!!!

Problem: Clicking on the "play" button with sound enabled caused MP to display the title bar of the game, and then freeze, still showing the desktop. It does work with disabled sound however.

specs: 1.2Ghz athlon, SBlive5.1 DE, Asus Geforce2 GTS 32M, 256M RAM

Fix: I tried EVERYTHING listed in readme files but nothing worked (lowering DirectSound accel, updating drivers, disabling modem, lowering DX debug mode) ... So I reinstalled windows (1st edition) then Sblive drivers, Asus video drivers, DX8 then MP..And it worked with sound, hooray. But! upgrading from IE4.0 to 5.0 or above caused it to stop..weird.

So I ran scandisk and it worked again..However it still sometimes shows the taskbar and freezes. I have come to the conclusion that running scandisk and then IMMEDIATElY opening something else (winzip, word - anything to make the harddrive work) and IMMEDIATELY opening MP made it work..

It seems having something running in the background made the computer skip past the bug..Some dll running in the background or something. Anyway it works for me so try it and get back
