Invent your own style of replay value
This won't get very many replies, but I'm bored, and I just took this screenshot.

What is something that you do while playing through Max Payne that adds some sort of replay value?

Here's one of mine: Write my name on the walls!

Here's the larger image

My friend tried that. I have fun all the time. But usually I run over the level again and again. Sometimes I'll switch skins so it's like someone's chasing Maxey.

I guess I should have mentioned above that I'm easily amused.

You need to find a real man. I mean, carboard boxes are good, they can get the job done, but what happens if he gets wet? All crinkled up. Then what ya gonna do?

"Ny-Quil comes in red and green, and it's the only stuff on earth that tastes like RED and GREEN!"

Um, ok, so... um, yeah.

Well, what right to I have to complain, I once tried to attack a mirror.

Situation, class in 24 hours, have not written final paper for the class(supposed to have started two weeks ago), have not written make up paper for mid-term(supposed to have turned in several weeks before), have not read 200 page book the two papers are based on, also have 10 pages to write for different class. Here's how it all went:

This was after a full day of school:

Hour 1: Drank caffienated root beer, (it has 'bite') "okay, don't go to sleep". Started looking for details of assignment.

Hour 1: Started looking for book

Hour 3: Started reading book

Hour 4: Roomate wnt to sleep, Got more caffinated root beer.

Hour 5: Forget root beer, hansens energy drink, 3 of them.

Hour 6: Finished book. Started writing ten page paper

Hour 7: Dennys

Hour 8: Don't rememer how, consumed more caffiene

Hour 9: Blur

Hour 10: finished paper, started 8 page one, more caffiene.

Hour 13: Drove someone to an airport. I don't remember who or what airport. I think I was burbank.

hour 16: Finished second paper for class that starts in one hour, went to cafeteria for breakfast, went to class.

hour 20: second class in 4 hours, need to write 10 pages. MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF CAFFIENE

Hour 24: Walked into bathroom, I saw myslf in the mirror, Thought "But I am myself", angered at mirror being me, lunged foreward in attack stance. Realised what I was doing and went back to writing.

hour 26: attend second class with finished ten pages.

hour 28: go to bread.

Yeah, I don't think I'll do that again.

I tried writing Fnord in the wall with bulletholes like that. However, the first ones started disappearing before I finished the word.

I suspect there's only a limited amount of bulletholes that can be around at any one time. It makes sense - an infinite amount of bulletholes would eventually suck up all your memory.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">That's not possible. Bullet holes in Max Payne don't disappear. There's only a maximum limit, per room, and per dynamic object, that you can add, after which no new holes appear. This is because the bullet holes are collapsed into a single mesh and rendered in a single pass to take advantage of hardware T&L.

You can change the limits in the detail settings, and if that's not enouch, modders can edit the maximum decal limit multiplier in the global configuration text file (whose exact name escapes me, but I think it was called globalconfig dot something).
