Re: Max In A Movie?
I don't think we'll be seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger doing much acting for the next couple years, now that he's governor of California... I suspect his next acting job will be running for President of the United States, like Bush and Clinton before him. Being governor seems to be the stepping stone to the White House lately.

Re: Max In A Movie?
Guy Pearce might be (he's brilliant in Memento), but I belive that they should have McCaffrey audition for the role if he's good enough (I've never seen him in anything) there is no one else that could even come close to Max. However if he isn't good enough Christian Bale should be the second choice (see Equilibrium if you haven't seen it, it's cool as hell). He's got a really cool gaze and can at with such a degree of sarcasm.
As for Johnny Knoxville, sure Jackass had its funny moments, but that hardly makes him qualified to portray the most tormented character ever seen in a game.

Re: Max In A Movie?
oh yes
i don't want a well-known actor in that role, cause the movie should be about the character only. tom cruise is too famous for that part. and i so don't like him

Ok... since I started this juggernaut of "Max In A Movie"... I will dive back in here - I still think my Christopher Meloni could be a good Max... but I will concede that Timothy Gibbs does look the part in that pic I definitely see Max!!

Re: Max In A Movie?
There is only one guy who can play the part of Max and that is James McCaffrey,he looks like Max and he is the voice of Max,he's the best choise.

Here is a more recent picture of James McCaffrey from American Splendor (2003).

Re: Max In A Movie?
McCaffrey is in his 40s. I imagined Max being in his 30s. I'm sure that if there's a MP-movie coming then it's not a 1 on 1 thing to the game(s).
I wouldn't have a problem with Max being more mature than he looked in MP1. I mean, all his metaphors, he sounded like he went through plenty of trouble.

Re: Max In A Movie?
If Max is going to be in a movie...then I want him to be played by...Sam Lake!!
Then I want... Timothy Gibbs. Again for obvious reasons. It just makes sense since he played him in the game and he is a real actor. It has to be either or (in my opinion) because I don't think I could stand another face change!! |

Re: Max In A Movie?
James McCaffrey does look a little old for the part but what makes MP so great, I think, is the voice.I accepted the change of Max's face in MP2 because the voice was the same.I don't think anyone can make the same voice and since there won't be a voice-over he's the best choise. If he can't do it then the only other, popular, actor I can think of who looks kinda like Max but has a good voice for the part is Hugh Jackman.

I still think McCaffrey could dub his lines over whatever the actor says.

Re: Max In A Movie?
I agree but that can't be done in a full length feature film, it's considered a waste of money.

Re: Max In A Movie?
Dubbing the original was already done in full length feature movies. For example Crying Freeman where
the female lead, played by Julie Condra, was dubbed by Canadian actress Deborah Unger (played Porter's wife Lynn in Payback). It was really worth it, because Unger has such a beautiful voice. A french actor in the same movie was also dubbed because of his accent. I heard the dialogue in the Lord of the Rings movies was almost 100% ADR. Expenses of additional recording and voice actors is next to nothing compared the other costs of a movie production. Personally, I find Max's voice very important but it's not like that James McCaffrey is the only actor with a fitting voice. However, I think he could do Max as an actor.

Re: Max In A Movie?
I swear to god, if 3DRealms are stupid enough to have Johnny Knoxville??? for the part, then thats their loss.
Get someone serious for the part... Not some loser who can't act or behave like a normal human being... As someone said earlier on, about the Invisible man, the female scientist who gave Vince Vintresca (cant remember his name in the program) she could make a very good Mona Sax i think. Anyone else think so? |
