Or, the author is simply misinformed as has already been suggested.
no its the latest issue of PC Powerplay.. the most popular Australian PC gaming magazine.

Also i didnt realize there was a second page.... here i photo copied the rest

so it starts here

finishes here

this article was written by Darren Wells. he is a very respectable and professional writer.. if not the best writer in the whole magazine. thats why it steams me so much that he could write this horrible shit without getting one fact straight.

I FORGOT TO MENTION, BUT JOE COMMENTED ON THAT ARTICLE AT DUKE4.NET:

Hahahahahahahaha.

That was funny. There's a couple things here that are so wrong, it made me laugh out loud.

No, I won't say what they are. But I love deep throat articles like this. Make me laugh.

What could Joe mean?

And the Interactivity better be crazier than Alone In the Dark. I know this game will rock, come on it's DUKE!! YEAH DUDES!!

It's not horrible shit. Like I said earlier, he's got some of his facts wrong, but it doesn't effect the purpose of his article. He's arguing a very valid point which I think is fuel for the mind of George Broussard. I'm as much a fan of Duke as the next guy here, if not more, but I try to maintain a rational perspective on things.

Yes indeed that's correct, but somethings need more time. In the end they pay off greatly, and that is the case with DNF. Those who wait shall receive, PERIOD.

What could Joe mean?
The main thing he was referring to is the very first sentence of the article.
Actually... I'm really curious about this too.
As has been argued by Angilion, the author is misinformed, but I've seen much worse articles.
I don't see anything that's so wrong I can imagine it makes a developer laugh.
I guess I'll re-read the article more carefully, but we've all been very clearly warned about trying to read between the lines too much, so...

I wouldn't even say he's got 'facts' wrong, when it's mostly a case of semantics.
After all, when it comes to DNF very little is definitive and it is fair to call the earlier trailers "teasers" because that's exactly what they turned out to be.

There isn't anything new or particularly enlightening to be found in this article though.
Well-written filler is still filler.

Re: DNF Dallas Business Journal Article, 2008, and stuff
It's a legitimate article that just happens to lean too heavily on DNF. They could just have easily subbed in Starcraft: Ghost or whatever. It was quite clearly not written to mock DNF or 3DR, it just overemphasised the vapourware-ness of DNF because it's gotten a fair bit of press lately. The point is, as X-Vector said, that the "wrong facts" about DNF are moslty just semantics, and aren't even the main thrust of the article. The main thrust of the article is whether the marketing of video games is changing, which is fairly obviously the case. Video game advertising is now becoming more and more like film advertising: how often do you see a huge deal made out a director being attached to a film? Or even before that, a script being bought by a producer? Games now seem to be announced/unveiled maybe a year or so before a forecast release date, with a teaser followed by a proper trailer, accompanied by screen-shots and interviews. In that way, it's possible that vapourware is a thing of the past.

You're confusing me with someone else. I didn't make that argument. I don't think that the author is misinformed. I don't see anything wrong with the article - it's an article on the game release process and vapourware that starts off by using the most famous piece of vapourware as an example.

I'm sorry, I didn't plan on putting words in your mouth, or plain out lying.

Anyway, if the Joe-quote a few posts earlier is right, the guy did really get some facts wrong.

The article in PCPP is making a point, but it seems like a bit of filler for the magazine. I think X-Vector and Monkey Butler are on the right track to what the article was meant for.

The Dallas Business Journal Arcticle was really exciting. Do you expect something similiar in the near future again?
I also really enyojed reading the T Ray interview!
What about interviewing some other devs, to get a look into the interactivity, the sound, the AI, animations or physics. Some well spread general info can be as good as screenshots.
But what I would like the most...an indepth video-interview with George! Its so sad that he is staying in the background and doesn't like to be seen for real. Hopefully this will change when the time comes.
