Prey source code

John Carmack has announced the id tech 4 source code (I presume for Doom 3 and Quake 4) will be released by the end of the year.

Could I request that the source code to Prey also be released? The Prey game has some really cool mods to the engine that would surely benefit any new mods based on the id tech 4 code.

John Carmack did challenge other developers to release more source code so I guess 3D Realms should take on the challenge.

I guess that's up to Zenimax, who owns the ip, and Human Head, who developed the first game.

With that said, I don't know what kind of deal 3DR made to Zenimax, so maybe i'd be totally wrong.

Chances are this will not happen due to the fact that Prey 2 is using a heavily modified version of the Prey engine... which is really just a heavily modified version of Id Tech 4. So, they probably wouldn't consider doing so until after the release of Prey 2... if at all.
