Is This Forum Closing, YES or NO ?

I wish a Moderator would actually give us a clue as to whether this forum is to definitely close or not, as it is not always the case when a company closes, as forums have been known to continue.

I think that the lack of information given out on this issue shows no consideration towards this forums members that have been loyal members of this forum, & 3DRealms supporters for years.

3DRealms has handled this issue very badly, giving out very little info about whats going on concerning this matter. But I suppose their just like any other big company that goes under, they're just no longer interested in the people that have supported them over the years i.e their customer base, without which they wouldn't have made it in the first place.

So no, I won't be cutting them some f**kin slack as you put it, untill they cut their ex-users/customer base some slack & release a statement to this forum telling us all exactly what's occuring.

When a company goes bust, dissolves etc, they arent gonna put an official statement on their forums are they?

I disagree they do owe the people that have supported them by buying their titles over the years, & any other professional company which were global like these guys would have released a statement as proffessional standard.

so... I would not count on it, but it seems to me the forums are safe for the time being?

I don't mean to offend any member of this forum, I just wanted just 1 moderator to say YES or NO to this forum closing down along with the company, is that too much for a member that's been loyal to this forum for years to ask......., i.e it would be nice to know whether I will be wasting my time posting any more news updates on my mod thread to this site.

I think the point you're missing is that they likely have no idea as most of them just found out they have no jobs. I think it's fairly evident that you've never had a job or supported a family, made a mortgage or credit card payment, or had to deal with any of life's harsh realities. If you had, your attitude would be significantly more mature than it is.

As far as you supporting them over the years, if you paid for product, you GOT product for your money (and some pretty good product from this company). End of transaction. Nobody owes you anything. Your sense of entitlement is unwarranted. The fact that the forum server is still up and ex-employees of the company are still posting here keeping things going should speak volumes about how they feel about the place and their fans.

If you must have an answer immediately about the fate of these forums, your safe bet is to assume they are going away. Otherwise, wait until the people who can answer your question have an answer to give you. You are entitled to nothing here.

I've had to make my own way in the world since I was 16 years old for tragic personal reasons. I have credit card depts up to my ears that are worrying me sick at the moment & I can't do anything about them as i'm not allowed to work anymore due to a serious heart condition, & when I was working I had one of the most emotionally & physically demanding jobs going. as a proffessional nurse......lol.

So you just haven't got a clue mate, don't make judgements until you know all the facts.

My previous statement stands, and in fact is strengthened. Your life experience makes it all the more surprising that you're here making demands of people who are currently suffering from the shock of the loss of their livelihood, especially about something as trivial as whether a gaming site forum is going to stay up or not. They've had 3 days to process. The webmaster who runs this site has a wife and kid with another on the way, and now no job. You're here crying about how nobody is meeting your needs for information about whether you can expect to post to an Internet gaming forum. You would expect a person who spent their life taking care of others to have a tad more empathy. I really think you need to take a step back and think about what you're saying.

I'd also expect that you'd be more realistic. It's not that they are withholding information. It's that nobody has the information you're looking for. They don't know, and Joe has said so numerous times. At present (or very shortly), the people maintaining this site are working for free. Unlikely that's going to be sustainable, since we all need to eat and employment tends to be the means of facilitating that. So, if these forums are going to continue, somebody is going to have to figure out how that's going to happen. The fact that you seem to expect that that decision making process should be at the top of anyone's list of concerns at this point, and they should have an answer for you right now is a fairly thoughtless, unrealistic and immature stance to take in my opinion.
