Humanhead and 3drealms, close geographicly?
Is Humanhead and 3drealms, close geographicly? Or why did you start working together?

actually 3DR and HH aren`t neighbours like 3DR and id software which are both located in Texas.
According to their homepage Human Head is in Madison, Wisconsin.

why nerve ?
I meant HH isn`t based in Texas like id and therefore not geographically close to 3DR like id software is

Human Head's office address is:

6401 Odana Road

Madison, WI 53719

3D Realms is located in Texas.

EDIT: The Count beat me to it!

Yes, but DudeMan`s question was if 3DR and HH are geographically close and they`re not. I don`t live in the US but I don`t think that Texas and Wisconsin are considered neighbours
Anyway, distances like these don`t matter anymore for business like they might have done in the 90s before broadband-internet came. George has said that they chose to work with Human Head because HH are a talented group. And he and Scott can probably always take their private plane to Wisconsin

Yep, Nerve and id are neighbours! I think Tim Willits said in an interview that Nerve is "just down the road" from the id hq!

er, Dudetheman wondered about the relations of Human Head and 3DR.
What do id software and Nerve have to do with that?

Re: Humanhead and 3drealms, close geographicly?
after the contract with remedy they wanted to bring prey back to life. 3dr looked for a talented group, who would take the job, what games they did in the past, what all the individual persons having worked on in their career to making their decision in the end.

there probably wasn't any appropiate company in the near, so they took hh. nowadays, it's no problem to keep in contact over long distance. both companies keep calling each other, hh sends new builds from time to time, and they take trips. ... webcam is another option.

No freakin way!

That's a few miles from where I live and a few blocks from where I work!

I had no idea!

EDIT: Wow, just checked their website. It looks like I went to high school with a few people that work there. I suppose it would be in poor taste to call them up out of the blue and ask them to show me the game

yes, don't make it seem like you call them for the game.
call one that you got along with in high school and say: Hi i was browsing your website in interest for prey, and saw you, and I remember you. I thought I'll call him, long time ago....
pay attention, some of them are maybe reading this prey board.

If you want to be subtle with them don't talk about Prey in the first sentence you are addressing him. Tell him you were trying to find what your old friends are doing these days as a job, and you happened to find him on the Internet or something, and then ask what game they are working on and if he mentions Prey, look surprised and say you heard about it, then go drink a beer somewhere and when you two are known friends once again, get him to show you something, and post it here. Cheers!

So who do you know here MPM? Let us know!

We're actually right the street from Raven Software. It's pretty interesting (at least to me) that the two biggest Doom3 titles are being worked on just 1/2 a mile from each other.

how many battlelords does the game have?

(to mpm: I warned you they could read this forum, now you can't ask them about prey anymore, they know already )

Hey all. Just catching up on this thread.

lonestar's pretty much right. We stay in contact daily via email, and sending them builds of the game periodically for feedback and as a general update. Of course, there are the occasional trips where we fly down to Dallas to deal with stuff face-to-face.

Sure, certain things would probably be more efficient if we were right up the street from them, but overall development has gone quite smoothly. Don't need to be in the same room to talk about 99% of the issues that come up.

Pretty much the same thing as Remedy, only without the time difference.

Oh, and no webcams

No webcams???

That's probably a good thing, because if you go by what is on the early years of the Camera Captioning Contest, who knows what you'd have going on from their end .

It seems 3D Realms knows how to pick who they partner with and vice versa... Glad to see this game coming to fruitition finally, There was a time where the only product from the game was a coffee cup Tom Hall brags about in his games he worked on section on his website...

Speaking of the camera captioning contest, you might find this interesting:

http://www.3drealms.com/camera/022803.html

E3 2001, this was a couple of months into Prey's initial design phase (didn't get the Doom3 tech until late 2001).

Joe misspelled your name is that a tradition over at 3DR ?

I have two questions, I don't know if you are allowed to answer them but here goes:

Did it start out as a internal 3DR game or have you guys been involved with it from the beginning ?

Do you and 3DR co-own the IP ?
