DNF Merchandise / Special Edition
I wonder if, and how much, and why people would pay more for extras coming with the game... say, special hardware like a weapon-controller which work like old point and shoot nintendo gun(or similar to the wii controllers).. or like the power glove again from nintendo(not a nintendo fan but they have fun controllers through their history)..
or extra hardware like 3d helmet system which let you view like 3d glasses, and hear surround..(this one is a bit far fetched but who knows )
or extras like in 2 games in one.. the second one being a gta-like massively multiplayer fps chaos city..
or any other ideas you, or they could come up with..

personnaly, I'd pay more for a game that comes with special controller hardware..or other stuff if I judge it's usefull..
how much, I don't know for sure.. for a gun-controller coming with DNF I'd pay double the original price..

I would pay for extras, especially hardware (controllers) but nothing too fancy..
I would rather keep that item as a collector's item and not use it with the game, as I know for a fact that I wont be using any other kind of controllers but the mouse and keyboard to play the game.

What i'm really interested in, is perhaps figurines like in prey, some artbooks, bonus dvd, mouse pad... cool stuff like that.

If it's extras, I want something I'm going to use. Not figurines that are going to sit on a desk, and not some crazy-ass controller. I would be interested in a Duke Nukem Forever Mock-umentary.

I'll pay for a collector's edition and whatever comes with it. Maybe some additional merchandise too if I can work it into my (pre)order.

The same for me, I am not going to pay 200 euros extra for a 3D helmet though (although that is helluva cool )

I'd like to see a "special edition" package with a voucher for a set of books that has a note and/or screenshot from each week of development. All fifty volumes would be shipped right to your door. I'd even buy a bookcase to hold them all.

Old versions of the game would be nice, but as already stated, 3DR doesn't own the rights to those engines so that would make lameDNF's difficult. What's funny is each game from the 1998 and the 2001 E3 trailer looked far superior to anything out at both times, and could have each been sold if they just finished it...both times.

Then again, I'd be happy just to see the game on a shelf.

they dont own the licenses, but as i recall, there was a use of the q2 engine. its open-source, so they can sell it, they would just have to release their source code. (i doubt they are clinging to that anymore)

I expect to see stuff like that in the Collector's Ed. UT2k4's CE was apparently a good touchstone for mod-related goodies.

It has been suggested be a few that it would be REALLY nice if un-used oneliners/comments etc that didn't make it into the full game, were available with the editor... That way the voices/whatever will not be wasted, and even make it for much better use for custom creations...

I'm not only speaking of Duke, but voices in general, that didn't appear in the full game... (obviously along with the excisting voice-work from the actual game)

i would also like those things like figurines, remeber the old duke 3d pigcops with their tiny little pumpguns... thatīs cool (i donīt know how u could by those pigcops (but i think there were no special duke3d packs including sth like this))

for a controller like the nintendo wii i would also pay a lot if it works like nintendo says (absolutely analogue controlls so it wpuld be really like having the gun inside uīre hand...) it would be a greater argument to by the game at all, it would really be incomparable, and thatīs what a duke game should be..

Re: Would you pay more for extras with DNF?
At this point... I'm not sure I would pay a penny over the standard retail price for DNF. If asked years ago, chances are I would have said "hell yes!" Having waited all these years with STILL no signs, losing interest and just forgetting about it; playing plenty of other FPS games and losing interest in the genre in the first place, I would definetly have to have a GOOD reason to even consider putting down more than the standard price for a version with "extra features."

It's honestly got to the point where I don't even know if I would buy it at bargain price... my interest has plummeted *that* much. And even if I did buy it, there's no telling if I could build up enough interest to play it through to the end. I mean... COME ON... it's ****ing 2007 almost! I thought the day I say "I give up" wouldn't come up... but, well, that's exactly what I'm saying now. If DNF comes out, and is good, great. If not... well, I don't think I'll lose any sleep.

Assuming 3DR makes it DX10-only, I will refuse to buy--period--since I have absolutely zero interest in "upgrading" to the newest Windows. I've already switched OSes, and do not plan on looking back. Such a requirement will make my decision infinitely easier.

Good question. Surely it has to be a lot, though... what has it been, around a decade (!) since the last true (ie. not a spinoff, side-story, or unofficial add-on) Duke game came out?

Not really being a PC gamer at all (but still a huge Duke fan for years, since around 13), Duke Forever has... well, forever been my expected "last" PC game (I'm more of a console gamer, really, and actually was never a big fan of FPS games in the first place except on rare occasions).

No doubt, I will check for the news if I *ever* (key word there) hear that DNF will soon be released, and check reviews ASAP... but for once, the reviews will literally make or break my decision to play/buy the game. This is one game that better get as close to a ten as possible and glowing comments all over before I even consider buying. And NOT require a brand-new operating system. Otherwise, I won't even touch it. 3DR is walking on a fine line here, in my opinion.

At this point, I am seriously not sure what to think of the game. Nothing good, so far.

You think that by saying all that 3DR is going to make the game faster for you? don't think so.

If you don't like the genre then that's your problem. There are thousands and thousands of players that still like the genre.

And yes i would pay more for some extras, like the making-of, ditched trailers, videos of earlier builds of the game, etc.

Again people miss the point. People saying that they're getting over DNF (usually in tandem with getting over gaming all together) isn't trying to blackmail or coerce 3DR into releasing info, or pushing forward a release date. It's just a simple fact that because the game has been in development for so long, there's going to be a drop-off in the fanbase. People do grow out of things, or they find things more suitable for their excitement (it's hard to stay keen for so long, and makes more sense to move onto other things that will materialise sooner), and that's what JMB is saying. I'm still interested in the game (I'm here, aren't I?) but I think it's unreasonable to expect everyone to be unanimously and unquestionably happy with things now. Thus, people grow out of waiting and move onto other things.

And why do you think 3DR even cares about who wanted the game 10 years ago? they want the people that play games NOW to like it. That's why they are taking so long, because they not only have to bring a fun game but also a game with good graphics and other "today" features that even new gamers would like. Again, they don't give a damn about wheter someone got tired of DNF or not.

If you got tired of DNF, don't post it here. Simple as that, right? 3DR doesn't bother about that fact, So why even post about it?
