I would say because no one else has reported such a bug it is due to you possibly having conflicting mod's or older HRP's installed or the latest installed wrong.

I have deleted old HRP files (MapHacks, Update Pack 3.11 etc), I play the original game, I have deleted old savegames and textures.

Regarding older music pack:

Quote:
The older EMP v1.05 release sounds more different because it uses music from artists with superior sample banks. Thundik81 still has a backup version on his server (100 MB). You can easily compare the packs by exchanging them inside your EDuke32 installation.
I have also added this link to Parkar's d/l section in case there's more need for this alternate version.

^ That's a very good idea NightFright. I also hope that Mark McWane doesn't get discouraged to continue his project, becuase you apperantly sent him a message saying his stuff was outdated....

I didn't write anything of the sort. Just mentioned we had another approach to the music stuff. Besides, I think McWane is pretty much out of the equation because he expressed to me he will hardly find any time to continue his project further.

Thanks

If Maks can't continue, has he time to make a sort of tutorial, where he explains how he makes so good OGGs ? ^^

There are some glitches in Mark's tracks, though. E4L1 music ("Missimp") for example has a passage where the tunes sound really weird and off-tone.

He doesn't just run the MIDIs through a soundfont or something. He has a wide library of orchestral sounds that he searches through and finds the best alternative for. And then there's mixing after that to make sure everything sounds well together with panning and volume and sometimes EQ (I don't know if Mark used EQ or advanced mixing with his older music pack but I'm sure he would for hew newer pack if he ever finishes it). You can't just use the existing panning/volume MIDI settings when you bring in brand new sounds. It's an art and not really something you can learn within the scope of a tutorial. In fact I'd even go as far to say that you really need to be a musician or at least have a knowledge or experience in how to mix and work with music. If you want to do it properly anyway.

That was done on purpose.

An real example of a glitch in Mark's music would be in Stalker at 0:57 - 1:00, the string section gets corrupted for a second and you can hear the strings doing a sort of wierd tremolo effect. Proabably an issue that occured when he was converting all the tracks to MP3.

Hm. I wonder if the really weird stuff going on in Mark's "Infoscumos" track for Blood was intentional, too (1:26 and following). *That* really sounds soooo wrong! *LOL*
