Max Payne 1 Slow down Sound Changes
Ok, so, without getting too much into it, I would like to be able to change the sound the game makes when you go into bullet time.

First off, when you extract all the files, WHERE can you find this sound? I checked through all the sound effects in the RAS files, nothing! Maybe I'm just missing it?!

Secondly, how exactly would you do that, change the music or sounds? Even just a link would be a push in the right direction. Thank you.

Re: Max Payne 1 Slow down Sound Changes
First of all... I did actually try AND do this... However it doesn't always work.

When you extract the x_data.ras file there should be a sounds file or something... Something to do with the levels and character sounds and speeches. There is an option on whether bullet time affects it (I think it's under sound_scaleable) or something - I can't remember off the top of my head. When you change it to yes, it should modulate the pitch and speech if time slows down.

THE UNFORTUNATE thing about this, is that a lot of the cutscenes that happen with mobsters or characters aren't always in 1.0 time (in fact their usually slowed down). A lot of the cutscenes are usually half the speed, because of the animation limitations... A good example is when the transit cop gets killed in the first level... If you slow down all the audio - when the goon kills him - he says 'what the hell'... but since the cutscene is rendered at 0.7 real time - his voice sounds like an octave lower.

It doesn't always work... I abandoned trying after a few instances of this happening.

I appreciate your info, but I think we have our wires crossed.

I just mean that simple wooosh matrix type sound it makes when you right click. What sound is that? I want to change that and the music during as well. I don't know where to find it. I found the heartbeat sound.
