Most ambitious project?
Im just curious, what are people here SERIOUSLY thinking of doing with the source code? Im just curious where you guys think you can take it or how far it can possibly be taken too.

Well, I think the minimum I would like to do is to port it over so you can run it under Windows. Even with software 3D like it currently has, it would be nice if ported to Windows code with some higher resolutions. I can see people doing OpenGL versions because OpenGL is so easy to program. I know I'll try my hand at it just for fun as I have never ported anything before.

I'm not sure that these guys aren't re-inventing the wheel here. Wouldn't porting the data to something like the Doomsday engine make more sense? Then it would be a matter of modifying Doomsday to handle ROTT's special features.

Tools like glBsp, etc would already be available. Also, there would be 3D model support!

I wish I had time to look into this.

What I might use is bits and pieces of it, but I am not going to use the entire thing.
