eDuke32 and DN3D Lifes a Beach
How in heck do I get it working? I'm currently looking at the cd contents (or rather the contents of the iso backup I made of said CD which sits neglected, four, five states away from me. Along with all my other games >.<)
What do I need to get it working with eDuke32? Might as well toss me instructions for the others too, this is getting bogus. (Duke it out in DC, and Nuclear Winter) Never mind, trial and error prevails!

Re: eDuke32 and DN3D Lifes a Beach
There are instructions up and running here: http://www.duke4ever.eu/index.php?view=d3d_jf_addons
However, note that creating zipfiles for the addons containing custom art (i.e. "tiles014.art" and the like in most cases) is not a good idea because .art files are ignored when not packed into a .grp file.

Re: eDuke32 and DN3D Lifes a Beach
What about them game con files?
Recently I got Caribbean to work, but for some odd reason when I couldn't get Duke in DC to run (con file boned or something) I go play Caribbean later today, it says theirs warnings on their con files O.o I used different directions though regarding caribbean and DC. Though redid Caribbean via instructions provided, works, but not all the models show at all. my game cons seem to be corrupt for DC, and Caribbean... well they're not selling that high, I guess I'll pick up fresh copies.

Re: eDuke32 and DN3D Lifes a Beach
Recently got my hands on Duke Carribean, and finished the four Atomic episodes with HRP. Via trial and error, and with the help of Dosbox I managed
to "install" it over a fresh installation of plain old Atomic DOS version. When I tried to start it, I got a meaningless runtime error message. It however created a new grp file on startup, which I snatched and stuffed it into a sub-folder of my eduke directory, and selected it as addon folder. Now when I start it, I have everything of the old stuff (monsters, weapons, HUD) but with new art. And on the roof of Hollywood Holocaust it plays some sunshiny elevator ummm I mean holiday music. But it doesn't seem to use any new con files, nor does it load the new maps. The above link is invalid, the website behind it seems to be broken, because all the index.php functions result in the same page being loaded. Sorry I babble too much. Long story short: How do you get the addons to run within eduke32? Thanks in advance. |

Re: eDuke32 and DN3D Lifes a Beach
Thanks for the heads up. Well, there is only the same site, that was linked above, linked in the FAQ. And that site is currently broken. However it also mentioned the SSI-extractor by J. Fowler. I extracted the SSI files now, but only got some bunch of weird stuff with irritating filename extensions. (NOC->CON etc.).
I'm way too tired now; if I can manage to get it to run tomorrow, I'll post a howto into THIS thread, in case others will be searching for that info. |

Same for me. I was looking for the FAQ section last week when I wanted to play the Shark's Cove mod and could not find it.

Re: eDuke32 and DN3D Lifes a Beach
Thank you very much! I did not know it was made to be played with the Vacation HRP. I got it to work without the Vaca HRP but it had some HOM in some of the smaller rooms. I don't know if that was because of not using the Vaca HRP or if I had it installed incorrectly. I will try it again with loading instructions you provided.

Re: eDuke32 and DN3D Lifes a Beach
Use the installer that comes with the Duke Caribbean HRP. Simply place the VACA15.SSI file in the same directory where you extracted the 7-Zip archive, and run the batch file.

Re: eDuke32 and DN3D Lifes a Beach
I think that error was actually a problem with my batch file. I should really release a new version because of all the problems with the last one. (buggy batch file, PNG optimization, music updates...)
Anyway, try carib_install.bat in this archive. The only thing you need is the VACA15.SSI file and it will do the work for you. Also included is the newest, SVN version of the VacaHRP batch file. |
