What happened to 3D Realms studios?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1ZAt...eature=related
This is a video of Joe's kid in the lobby of 3D Realms.
Does this lobby still exist??????
3D Realms said, that they'll continue to operate as a smaller company!!!!
Does this means that they changed studio and sold the old one???

Hello!
3D Realms still exists and as far as I know so does that lobby. They will continue to do business but whether that would be as a developer or publisher has yet to be announced.

The reason for this is most likely new projects take a while to put together so we probably won't hear much of 3D Realms moving forward for sometime now until they have their next step planned and prepped.

So, still here!

Yeah take it easy and get back to business.

I think that the offices are still open and you still got that duke symbol on the floor.

I've never heard of any fan being able to give a knock on their door and being let in so I doubt you'd be allowed.

Ah yes, those were the days. We did that in 2002 or early 2003. My senior year of High school.

We knocked on the door and Weider answered I said "We're here to see Joe!"

Taken with my old 2mp camera. I'm unsure of where the originals are or if they still exist.

My favorite pic is with Joe in the background.

Also, if you don't mind, I uploaded them to my photobucket account. I can remove them if you wish.

There is very little going on there. None of the people who worked on Duke3D still work at 3DR except for GeorgeB.

Sorry I got busy with the Ice storm that we had and I have not gotten back to the forums.

Ok let me clear up something. Yes the Lobby Does still exist and the Logo is still there. There is NOTHING else in the building. All the Duke stuff is ether in storage or in the office in Plano. So visiting would not be a really good idea.

That has nothing to do with why the stuff was moved as it's all 3D Realms stuff. It was probably moved since the building isn't being used in a major capacity as far as we know.

Is 3Drealms still in the AAA game business, or will it shift to iphone/casual games?

Its strength was in producing games like raptor, balls of steel, max payne and prey...

I hope we soon get to hear about Scott Millers next move...

(I'm guessing this is about the 3DR buildings, since the conversation was kind of vague, and you didn't quote anything; I can't be sure).

When I was working at 3D Realms from 1992-2009, we never owned any of the buildings we operated out of. Both were leases, so 3DR didn't "own" any of the buildings at all.

As I've been out of that loop for ages, I can't say one way or the other what's going on now for sure (nor would it be my place to say anyway), but I know what was left of 3DR (Scott, George, Bryan) moved out of the NW Hwy location ages ago, haven't thought about it in a bit.

But I can say 3DR didn't own the building, so there's nothing for them to "hold on to".

I did not reply at the time for a reason, And then I completely forgot about this thread.

The Reason i did not reply to you was that the location of all of us does not matter. Scott and I have an Office, We also have home Offices, George works from home. But we all stay in total contact. And we are on hold atm. Nothing we can do about that.

The Studio closing was hard. (Referring to handing over the keys and locking the door for the last time.) But things change and you just have to roll with them. And it did make it a little easier for me that I still worked out of the studio and watched it go from a very happy place to a Shell. It was time to leave.
