Is there a later alpha than lameduke? I wanna see the old devastator
or the old shrinker. If not, then i wanna see screenies

There's probably a leaked one, but it's illegal. LameDuke was the only one legally released.

I'm not sure if it's illegal actually, I searched for LameDuke and I went to the first site on the results page. At the bottom of the page was a link in really small text that said, "Don't go here". I went in there, and there was betas for Duke, Shadow Warrior, and other games. So, I'm assuming it's illegal.

Also, I would give the link to a 3D Realms employee so they could do something about it, but from past expierience of sending them a bad site, I doubt they would do anything.

Not to encourage piracy or anything, but I doubt you could be sent to jail for downloading a leaked beta of a game. They need the cells for killers, robbers etc.

Hackers can end up in jail. The people who were downloading illegal material will probably get a big-ass fine at most.

I think you can only end up in jail (in this illegal business) when you share whatever illegitimate things you have with others. You won't end up in jail for downloading a collection of MP3's, you will get penalized if you host this file for others to download.

That's the way I see it anyway

Ive played that beta. Its on Lon Matero(something like that)'s site. Its nothing special. Theres a few extra trees in some maps and stuff like that, and its only E1. Your not missing anything cool.

Im pretty sure I told Joe about it.

Actually nope, its a full beta. All of them are definitely some sort of a beta and not the released versions.

I think you played a different one... Only maps E1L1 - E1Lwhatever are in the GRP, and theres no different art...

here in canada, the police dont really care,
its legal to walk into a movie theater with a video camra!
plus, the most the police can do is force you to remove it.
(in canada that is)

There's also a few differences in level design/layout, nothing major, but it's still cool to see what it looked like before the final release anyway. It also has some different sounds IIRC.

The beta in question was leaked right before the initial shareware came out. There's not a whole lot of difference between it and the released 1.0 shareware if I remember right.
