No Cd-Key, Manual only as PDF

Hi there.

Just bought Prey yesterday, wanted to install it and the installer asked me for the CD-Key.
But, alas, I searched the package, the CD and the CD-case...I could find no such key. The installer tells me the key would be printed on the backside of the manual, sadly the version I bought does not include a printed manual, it's only included as PDF on the CD and no key is to be found there.

Further Information:
I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit
Athlon XP 5600+
Asus M2N32 Mainboard
2 GB RAM
32x DVD-R/W drive mapped on E:
HD partioned into C: for the OS and D: for the data.

Although I don't believe it would have anything to do with my Hardware setup.
Maybe Vista confuses the installer? Because the setup.ini contains something about a CD-Key, though the installer does not accept it in whatever way...

A little help would be nice, I'm on the brink of searching common websites for not quite legal acquisition of a third party CD-Key....

Oh, and, NO, it's not an illegally burned or bought copy of the game, it's perfectly clean, bought at a local electronics store here in germany...

Take it back to the store. It's their responsibility to have the manual with the game. No manual? Very odd from an actual electronics store. It's your right to take it back and demand the manual.

Also, Prey installs fine in Vista.

the cd-key at low budget versions of games is in the jewel case.

if it not a low budget version, you have to got back to the store and change it.

@Steve: low budget versions of games only include the manual as pdf.

PS: didn't know it is avaible as low budget version, i think i will take a look at a store for it.

Ah, I see. We don't get anything like that over here. Even if it is the "low budget version" and he does not have a cd key he can still take it back.

It IS a low budget version, thus only a PDF manual.

But still, no CD-Key on the Jewel case, believe me, I searched EVERYTHING on, in and around the package and CD...*sigh* I guess I'll have to take it back to the store, then...

We have that stuff to here in Denmark..

But yeah you should definatly be able to take it back to the store where you got it, and get a copy with a CD-Key..

You should also be able to contact 2K games support (the publishers of Prey), if you can't get your game exchanged.

However they will need full prof of purchase ofcource.. Like Pictures of you holding the case and closeups to show where the CD-key should have been..

It's in german. Basically it says that the key is on the wrapper. Go and search through your trash!

You're right. I went through my trash and there it was....
Now I cut it from the wrapper and glued it on the CD-Case.

Lol, same thing happened to me when I bought WinXP last year ^^ I almost threatened MS I would sue them hehe :P

Definatly that's the stupidest place ever to put a cd-key..

Me or was it my dad have had a similar situation.. We finally look through the trash after almost giving up, and there it is on the plastic wrapping
