Why does a crash corrupt last save?
I have never, ever played a game in my entire life where a system crash causes the last quicksave file to be corrupt!!!!

This game is horrible, absolutely horrible in that it requires very expensive hardware and the graphics are no better than the original Max Payne?

It is completely stupid that I cannot load the last saved game because of a crash and it's so irritating because the game crashes all the time.

I waited 18 months for this piece of garbage?!?!?!?

I ran MP2 on my PIII 800Mhz, GF4 TI4200 just fine. The whole computer system is worth no more than £250.

I had lots of crashes on that system (which were resolved with a reformat) and not one of my saved games corrupted.

lotsa things can corrupt a file... if ur file keeps going bad, then i guess ur system is screwed up... try to clean install a copy of Win XP see if things gets any better...

and MP2 has much better graphics than MP1... i nvr run MP2 in low settings so i dunno how bad the graphics will be w/ low settings... i set mine to max and yes the game does look awesome...

actually my system is not an expensive one... P4 1.6, 512 Mb DDR RAM, RADEON 9800 Pro... kinda a below standard system for gamers (except the video card)...

The Max Payne install is on a different drive than the operating system.

Doesn't MP2 put the saved games in the My Documents directory like the original Max Payne?

The the application, not the OS is causing it.

it doesn't matter... windows can get dirty even if u install all the stuff on other drives... some dll files will still be installed in ur OS drive... and if u haven't clean install windows for a long time then i guess the registry is pretty screwed up (considering uninstalling unwanted software will not completely remove all traces of such software)... it's always wise to format c:\ and install everythg from the beginning...

it doesn't take that long btw... i format my hdd every half a yr... i can restore everythg in around 3 hrs...
if u don't bother doing it every 1/2 yr, just do a clean install once and take an image of the drive... then whenever the OS is screwed up, restore everythg from the image...

I use executive software to do disk cleanup, defrag, etc,...

It's not my system as no other game has this problem.

This whole game is a problem.

OBTW, I use Drive Image Pro to do image backups.

You really still haven't answered my question, why does a crash corrupt the last quicksave file?

The file is only accessed when I hit the quicksave key so why do a crash only corrupt the quicksave file?

I don't have a problem with the rest of my system, software, etc,...

if ur system crashed during the quick save process, it might corrupt the file...
if that's not the case, guess the game is doing sthg it is not suppose to do when u quick save... try re-installing the game see if it helps...
does save files works properly if u save the game normally (not quick save)???

You are so correct. It corrupts the quicksave file whenever the game crashes and not when I am doing a quicksave.

You are also correct in that the only valid file that I can load is the manually saved file using the save option, not the quicksave key.
