1. 3DRealms wont opt to let it die, they've invested too much into it.
2. Everyone expects it to be highly profitable, someone is bound to pick it up.

If you walked up to them with $5M in capital right now, it would go two ways - it they want to try to get out from under T2 through the lawsuit, they'd refuse if there were any terms whatsoever. If they wanted to just get the game out after all these years I'd bet that they would be willing to abide by a fair number of terms and conditions (release date, milestones, etc.). TBH, it looks like they are trying to stick it to T2, IMHO.

Missing levels? WTF are you talking about? No EA or Valve game has ever come out with missing levels!

If you play DNF and it suddenly quits on you with an error like "Cannot load map "hooverdam.dnf". File does not exist." that would be a game shipped with a missing level. That sort of thing never happened with any EA or Valve game.

I don't care about all this anymore, they can remain silent if they wish, as long as DNF will be released as a quality game atleast in the upcoming years. Even if EA got their hands on it, they're well-known to release games in less than a year or so..

I'm not looking for the perfect game, I'm looking for DNF.

From what I've been able to muster from news articles, posts, ect ect ect.

When 3drealms halted dnf development the game was about 90 percent done and none of the information I've read has made me even remotely believe that this is over.

With a game that is 90 percent done there isn't going to be any scraping it.

From the information I've seen i could see this as a possible outcome of the court trial....

TakeTwo wont be able to sustain their plea. 3DRealms will find some form of funding (maybe counter sue TakeTwo ) or finish it with what staff they can afford to hire. And we may see DNF maybe a few years afterward. I say this not as seeing the scenario as its taken them this long to hit 90 percent because in a way it hasn't. The majority of the delay has come from the several engine changes and what those engine changes required. With what I've seen from videos the game looks godlike and i guarantee that I'm not the only one that thinks so.

I wonder what they'll make next if the company lives that long?

if you sell the source code of duke nukem forever to another company I'm pretty sure that doesn't mean they can just sell a sequel they don't own the franchise
