Scarse inspirations become a problem sometimes. I usually try to take example by real objects (buildings, machinery), it's necessary 'cause this is the simpliest method to make things look more realistic. And yes, I often get some inspiration playing another maps and games, or visiting various places etc. Despite the strong imagination, I can't bear something in mind for a long time making the map. Sketching on paper also helps a lot. But the point is the experience, of course.

Yes, but it's just as likely that it will happen in another non-game program. I really haven't seen EDuke32 do anything negative to a computer, and I really think that if a problem was found that it would be fixed quite quickly by TerminX or Plagman. Worrying about a game clobbering your computer shouldn't really ever be a problem unless there is an inexperienced coder as the creator. (Which TX and Plagman aren't.)

There is a little problem with mapster32 actually, not something worth to call as harmfull but annoying: If you switch to the desktop when using the 3d view (and the brightness is any value but 0) your desktop will stay bright unless you make the reverse engineering to make it back.

Or restart your computer, or use some other program to set the brightness back to normal, EDuke32 can do this. (Most Fullscreen games should do this.)
