Max Payne 3: What I want to see
Just one thing really, though it has many implications:
The ability to turn off/on or shoot out lights, use shadows, and yes, walk softly!

This has many implications for AI, level design, etc., but I think it would add much-needed variation to the basic Max Payne gameplay.

Yes, these are Splinter Cell features, but I think there is plenty of room for a hybrid product, without being perceived as a rip-off or detracting from the standard MP gameplay.

Since the "standard mp gameplay" consists of running into every room and blowing the sh!t out of everything, I will just hope Remedy ignores this post.

Aren't there plenty of stealth action games already? Besides, max is not the kind of guy who "peeks around corners".

Re: Max Payne 3: What I want to see
I dont really like the idea of walking softly so enemies wont hear you and stealth....but i also dont like enemies knowing im there without seeing or hearing me like they currently do.

The lights thing would be cool....but i dont want it to detract from the gameplay...it can just be there for as a graphical nicity.

The general idea of max payne is to run and gun while doing cool moves...too much stealth will make it not max payne.

Better Bullet Time (3.0?). I'd like to see people's voices slow down as well as their actions. It would also be nice to see more outdoor levels like in the original Max Payne where the intro would show you the skyscrapers after zooming out from the water. I thought that was really cool.

Looked like water to me. My best guess would be that your graphics card wasn't displaying it correctly. Or I just made a mistake because I haven't played MP1 for over half a year.

Um, I've always had top-notch graphics cards. Played MP1 on a Geforce3, Geforce4, and now a GeForceFX 5900 Ultra. Played MP1 almost daily since the day it came out in 2001. Never looked like water to me.

I'd like to see a more open ended style.....kind of like grand theft auto...big expansive city. I know that MIGHT be difficult given the huge mapping task and game engine constraints.

And random crimes may occur that you can try to stop.

And for bullettime make it more like the original. But 2.0 IS handy when u are surrounded.

Maybe use two different guns in each hand(kinda silly)
and disarm enemies by shooting their hands. Or cripple them(never know when u may need to interrogate).

Uhm....I'd like to see more blur/camera effects...like when one guy is left standing , Max fires of the finishing shot and the camera pans to the bullet or the enemy getting hit...I know the game already does that, but I like more .

Uhm..maybe assign different gun stunts to keys that Max can perform like more stylish shootdodges, etc.

More playable characters.

Actually some of these could possibly be done in a mod...we'll see.

That sounds exactly like True Crime people should realise tho that Max Payne is a Hong-Kong bullet ballet type of game So I hope there wont be any stealth type of action

Since the franchise rights were sold to Take-Two, it's not even certain Remedy will make another Max Payne game.

Futhermore, at least personally I'd like to try making something different for a change.

Why did you sell the franchise rights to Take-Two!!? So is there atleast a 50% chance that you'll make a Max Payne 3? PLEEEEEEEASE!

Buuuuu, go back and work on MP3 you slave
If you want something "new" you can just give 3dr a hand, they have "some" game over there that they need plenty people to finish

Quote:

3dr also owned the franshice with Remedy. Not just Remedy that owned it, I think 3dr also owned it (and maybe 3dr needed the money to finish DNF )

Also there will be a new Max Payne game to 99% (there's too much money to be made on the franshice). Maybe not developed by remedy.
Which might be good.

Not necessarily... The franchise rights were sold months ago, obviously TT had no problems allowing Remedy to continue their work... Perhaps they'd allow Max3 to progress.

Changing developers isn't that huge of a deal, Yatta.

Elite Force 2 was developed by Ritual and was on par with the first game, which was developed by Raven.

Jedi Knight was one of the best frickin' games ever and developed by LucasArts; Jedi Knight 2 was nearly as good, and developed by Raven.

Yeah , but if the developer is EA then there would be Max payne 3 ,and week after that they make a expansion pack and after that ANOTHER expansion pack and then there would be Max payne 4 etc. And only new thing that they would include is one new weapon in each of the expansion packs. EA SUCKS!

Sold. Bullet Time™ is a part of the franchise.

The technology (ie the game engine) is as well. Which could mean that the next Max Payne game will be created with the same (but improved) engine.

When you wish for new features in games, don't forget: A freature alone isn't enough. If you just put the feature there, it makes little difference, unless you build the whole gameplay around it to support it and make good use of it. Just to say that a good, valuable feature addition can mean a lot more work than it seems.

That's very good to know. I love the Max FX engine. I swear, the Max Payne games are among the very few series of games that haven't even had a single slow down on my PC. And you guys didn't need to patch the original Max Payne too much, because it was already near perfect the way it was.

What are the chances of seeing a third MP game made by Remedy? I hate the idea of changing developers, just like I abhor the idea of change in the first place. What would you think if I were to tell you John Carmack weren't going to do the major coding for DooM III?!!!!

I think its a little odd they sold the rights, but said in the credits that there would be a Max Payne 3. That pretty much gives the entire series up to be raped by shitty sequels. Max Payne is a symbol for Remedy the way Duke is for 3DR. It would be kind of awful if DNF came out and then they sold Duke to Take Two. Theres already enough lame cash in titles with Duke as it is.

BTW is Rockstar a developer or a publisher label under Take Two?

I can't believe people miss facts like the franchise rights were sold, guess they don't read newssites, feels like I mention it every second

I'm pretty damn sure Remedy won't make MP3, they have the money now to use 4 years and make something they feel will blast us away. As much as I'd like Max Payne to continue with skilled developers like Remedy I can see how it would be good for them to go on another track. But for the love of God let it be action. Love hurts you know And I'm pretty sure Rockstar can dig up some dev. team that will do the job (almost) just as well as Remedy did. But don't let me get you down, there's still SOME chance they'll do it. Maybe if Rockstar pays $30,000,000 heheh... CASH!
