Dopefish and Douglas Adams?

Hey, I was checking out this site on the recommedation of some friends of mine, and i caught a refrence to Douglas Adams' Bug-blater Beast of Traal. I was just wondering, is there any relation between the dopefish and Adams' "Hitchiker" series, or was that just a passing comment?

The Dopefish seems to be related to everything in some way.

Umm, actually, no... I'm not familiar with any relations between the two directly.
