Since it'll no longer take you to Faces of Death, would you please remove the "NOW TRY FACES OF DEATH!!!" message that I placed above the nukebutton?

I´ve encountered a bug, I hope this is the right thread for it.
It is in the first level of the first episode (L.A. Meltdown). If you have the Jetpack and fly to the secret place above the bridge in front of the levelexitbutton, the game crashes.

I play with the following additions:
- HRP updatepack v.2.03a
- SD Duke v.1.0
- maphacks
- snapshot_20070221

Hope you can help me.

I searched and did not see a direct answer to this problem (if it even is one).



there is no sound choices! (I have set them up in setup) there is no sound at all when I start and wasn't before installing the snapshot.
also the hrp and other addons don't show up as choices I can only load the original game... I don't know if I 'installed' them differently then I had done on my old pc (which couldn't even run anything but the original game, but listed the hrp's and so forth).

any help would be greatly appreciated (I feel extremely noobish today... ugh)

ETA: oh and I'm on the evil Vista

I never did like Windows Vista very much, because it eats up almost a gigabyte of RAM although it can run on 512MB RAM.

Defrostmode: There aren't supposed to be sound choices in the startup window, and the HRP is launched via command line, not with the game tab. You should make sure the sound options in the game itself are enabled, or just delete your cfg file and let EDuke32 regenerate it without using the setup program.

KillerBudgie: no, Vista really can't run on 512 megs. I mean, the OS loads and all, but it's as slow or slower than running XP on 32 or 64 megs. One of my friends got a new laptop recently with Vista on it, but the thing only has 512 megs so nothing runs smoothly at all. He doesn't even get the Aero interface, yet the thing still manages to run slower than anything I've ever seen. I cannot see how anyone could tolerate Vista on 512 megs for daily use under any circumstances.

Another mapping question: When will MASKWALLS be fixed? I mean, you can easily put a maskwall on an "outer" wall of a 'red sector', but if you split that sector in two, you can't put a maskwall on it without switching to 8-bit mode.

I suppose this bug has already been reported though, but you can never be sure

Any sprite selection issues in OpenGL 3D mode will never be fixed.

wow, I must have used something else that started duke and listed all the hrp packs and hrps for addons... but I thought Eduke32 was the only thing I used (it's by far the best/most stable)! about the sound choices.... THAT I must have hallucinated...

I have 2 gigs of ram (which I'll get more of, but it's not at all a problem yet)/ a fast video card/ and a pretty decent processor... so no problems on that front... I also haven't had any problem with any 'windows' game so far (dos games on the other hand)! Any I have tried (about 15-20 so far) have installed and run great(... but I'm afraid to try my YDKJ games...)!

How do I turn off the bobbing the screen makes due to Duke's footsteps?
I'd like him to walk straight.

There isn't a way to do that other than with the CON files, but it's easy enough to add some cvars to toggle that and the weapon swaying on and off.

Um... I seem to have encountered the infamous 'black skybox' problem... The Hollywood Holocaust skybox loads as a cube with slightly different shading for each wall.

I have the latest snapshot and I'm running an Athlon 64 3500+, 1 gb of ram and an XFX7600GT video card.
I searched for that problem, but it was described only for ATI cards.
