Wiki
You know, I was thinking - I was wondering if there would be any interest in me setting up a Wiki on our server for folks to edit about us and our games.

We do have one for Prey, and one will shortly be available about Duke Nukem Forever, but I was wondering if there would be interest in doing one about us in general, or if folks should just use Wikipedia.

Thoughts?

This occurred to me after I was doing some editing on Wikipedia's page for Duke Manhattan Project.

Yes, that's a good idea. I really like the one for Prey.

And I didn't know that a wiki on DNF was coming to this site-that's cool.

Maybe you should hold off on that one? You know what people are like here... if the wiki is up they're going to think the game is going to be released within a few weeks

Not quite, a DNF one will be a fan run thing, not something 3DR is doing except providing the space. More details shortly.

I think a 3DR wiki would be great, as long as it can contain all classic games (including those made by Epic, iD, Softdisk, etc.).

It would be a 3DR Wiki about us. Not Epic, id, & Softdisk (except id's stuff with us, obviously). Sotftdisk is perpherially connected (Scubadventure, origins of id). Epic as a tech thing for DNF, but that doesn't mean it would be a license to do all of the games by those companies.

When you first posted this idea, Joe, I thought it wasn't a good idea. I thought Wikipedia, MobyGames and, to a lesser extent, IMDb are enough for folks to add stuff about 3D Realms and their games.

But now that I've thought about it, I can't wait, because I hope that with the help from 3D Realms it will have less errors.

That's the whole point. I am not involved in the Prey or 3DR one but they seem to all work the same way.

Constant updates without useless info or errors. Plus the format can be changed to allow easier access. Basiclly, it's more user friendly and accurate. Great ideas.

Though I did look at the Prey one and I think it could be much better.

That one was not intended to be an all inclusive thing on the game. Just selected tech info from HH.

Not apparently. Definitely. You probably are unaware of the vast majority of the actual staff here.

Anyways, i'd REALLY want thier profiles once thier names and what not have been announced... Or better, some kind of interview, about thier work (which role they played etc), thier previous job before joining 3DR, and some more personal stuff about them... That would be really cool...

I just worry about people constantly trying to put it in, and me having to remove it. I need to give it some more thought.
