The fall of Apogee/3DR
THis is my point of view of the whole collapse of the company. Apogee basically did not keep up with the business and the surrounding world. The handling of DNF was like most earlier apogee titles apogee would put out some shots in there latest catalog or game disk of an new title with the relese date listed in normal fashion "WHEN IT'S DONE" witch in the 80's and 90's worked well but with the internet age gamers expect constant updates of an in progress game and the press wants constant inside info on companies apogee usually kept info on in progress stuff out of the media. DNF suffered from both we would get an date at an e3 then an announcement that the game was set to be re engineered to another engine or technology. the 3dr name went from a high end name to a secondary label. most of the creditability the company had was lost promateing this game. Apogee did what most places would not do like sell dos apps well past the end of the dos era. But apogee lacks what id and epic have tech to sell. id and epic can basically make income out every game they make by selling the source to other companies to use. the last thing apogee had to sell was build that in the Win 95 era was insistent would not run with windows active in the background. around that time doom was running windows native. not to sound like i am thrashing 3dr but it may have been a bad sign when atari sold off rights to publish apogee software to 2k and it seems that 2k is suing the wrong party Atari sold them the bad account and the refusal to even actually invest in 3dr thinking atari sent an check over after the sale.

Good god guys. We get it. 3DR isn't developing anymore. How many more ways can you say it?

Talk about beating a dead horse.

Down under you are legally allowed to include up to 10% horse meat in pies.

Scary part is camel is a 5% limit!

Well, that's another good reason to avoid that area of the world.

Also, what kind of pies? Like, apple pies?

The Mongols used to put meat underneath their saddles to tenderize it.

"In 2006, the FDA approved the use of bacteriophages to fight listeria microbes on lunch meat, wieners and sausages. If you're unfamiliar with the term "bacteriophages," let us put it in a layman's term for you. Viruses.

In this case, six viruses, to be exact. There is an excellent chance that ham sandwich you had for lunch this afternoon was sprayed with a mixture of six different viruses in an effort to fight a microbe that kills hundreds of people a year. Hundreds. Approximately the same number of people that die in plane crashes. Because of this clear and present danger, your lunch meat is slathered with a buffet of viruses.

This probably sounds bad enough already, but wait until you hear Intralytix, the company that developed the bacteriophage mixture, explain exactly how the virus works. "Typical phages have hollow heads that store their viral DNA and tunnel tails with tips that bind to specific molecules on the surface of their target bacteria. The viral DNA is injected through the tail into the host cell, where it directs the production of progeny phages."

We'll take it from here. The battlefield on which this virus vs. microbe war plays out is the bologna that you used this morning to prepare your afternoon lunch. Around the same time the hollow headed bacteriophages were storming the beach at listeria, you were lifting that bologna sandwich to your mouth. Just as the phages were thrusting their hollow, viral DNA-filled tails into the host cells (also living on your sandwich), you were jamming the whole nasty battle right down your oblivious gullet."

Yeah, especially because bologna is such a great choice of meat in the first place.

SS202, don't shoot the messenger. Plus prophecy holder posted the link. I just made the information even more easily accessible.

At least until he learns the fact that people are going to be sarcastic online, and should either learn to notice it, or not overreact to it.

A messenger that runs up to the wrong people with a message completely unrelated to anything in the discussion, the thread and the whole forum?

Yes, shoot him.

Nope. It isn't.
Just give me a real horse salami and I'm happy.
Yes, that may sound kinda weird, but it's meat. And if the meat has been handled well, I'm all over that salami.
