Developer of Max Payne 1 and 2
I know remedy made the technology that the max payne games are based on but did they actually make the games themselves? if so did they make all the characters etc for it and the story line or was that someone else?

Thanks for any information you could give me

It's completely made by Remedy. Check the credits for characters, voices etc.

The story was written by Remedy's own Sami Järvi (aka Sam Lake).

I was wondering about this too. Do some of the old 3DRealms guys now work for Remedy? I noticed the style (of MP1 at least) has some similarities with the Duke Nukem games. And what did Rockstar do, just distribute it?

I for one failed to see those similarities, as Duke Nukem games are full of idiotic shite and Max Payne's are closer to works of art.

Unless you mean the fact that you can use toilets and sinks and such, which I wouldn't call a stylistic similarity.

I don't agree with Duke Nukem 3D being a load of shit. I still love (and play) that game. Ofcourse it's technically uncomparable to Max Payne 1/2, but the gameplay is still one of the best ever made.

The gameplay mechanics in DN3D are indeed fine and dandy, I can still remember many of the nights spent playing multiplayer DN3D. Gotta love those pipebombs.

But content wise, or stylistically, you can't really compare a game with an interesting story and characters to an overstretched bad joke.

Re: Developer of Max Payne 1 and 2
Actually, now that you mention it, I can see similarities in the story as well. Max Payne is an over-the-top film noir and Duke Nukem is an over-the-top science fiction game. They both sort of poke fun at their genres (You have to admit some of Max's dialogue is a little ridiculous).

But I really just meant that for some reason the level design or textures or something in MP1 reminds me of Duke. I'll have to play it again to come up with something specific.
