Spirit Walk - black screen

When I enter Spirit Walk, I get a black screen with a grey circle, and a few coloured stripes.
I have tried g_vieweffects 0, but the console does not recognise the command.

What kind of graphics card do you have?

Its an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700

I played Prey about a year ago and ran with no problems

Reloaded it last week for another run-through, and
