Dopefish Commander Keen Turns 20!
That's right folks! 20 years ago today Commander Keen Episode 1: Marooned on Mars was released to the public! I can hardly believe it! Where has the time gone?

Re: Commander Keen Turns 20!
I could not believe that when I read it... I actually remember downloading it with my notebook and 2400 baud modem. Each day I made a list of things I wanted to download. Because you had a limited amount of time on each BBS system and there were not that many BBS or downloaders that supported resume functions, so if it hung, you lost your progress. Yep. So I would plan with a small speed margin just how much I could download in my alloted time per system. The File Lists had the size of each file available, so it was easy to plan out unless you got a slow connection... then you might have to change up your plan.
I don't think it was quite 20 years ago I downloaded it actually. I don't think I found it for some weeks or maybe months, but I remember unzipping it and playing it for the first time and being totally amazed. Considering the amount of shareware I downloaded back then it had to be spectacular to remember it still... the same for Duke Nukem, Cosmo, Jill of the Jungle and a few other non-Apogee titles. Can't believe it has been so long.

I got it on a shareware CD but I didn't have a cd drive so I had to bring by hard disk a massive 200MB SCSI drive (at the time) and my card over to my friends house and copy all the files to my hdd my dad was against most video games when I was kid so I used a Norton discreet drive to hide them indeed those were the days :-)
