Demo recording and cheats in EDuke
Hey all,

I'm trying to record a demo where I play through Hotel Hell with the monster hit points tripled. I know I can activate the demo recording from the Game settings, and I've also set Hotel Hell as the first map of episode 3 by editing the map list in User.con. But since cheats seem to be disabled while recording a demo (for some reason), I can't use the DNWEAPONS cheat (the pistol and some random pickups aren't enough with such tough monsters around).

I do have a savegame for that map where I already have the weapons and ammo, but EDuke doesn't seem to let me record a demo if I've already started/loaded a game - that is, I'm not in the title screen.

Also, there's no setting in User.con to let me decide which weapons and how much ammo to give to the player when starting a new game, so I can't do that either.

This is unnecessarily complicated, or maybe I've just missed something. What should I try next?

Open the map in Mapster32 and place the weapons and items where you start...

Then I would probably need a program with which to extract the maps from the GRP-file, so I decided to just Fraps it:

P.S. I wish the shrink ray weapon required more than a single shot to shrink a monster, depending on its total hit points.

You don't need a program to extract them, Mapster reads them from inside the .GRP file.

EDIT: Also it's E3L8 not E3M8
