A new single player map for you all!
I'm having great fun playing SW again, now it's running on XP! Thought I'd share this with you all. It's a map I made 3 years ago and never released. You're the first people to ever see it!

I spent about 2 months on this and it's a fairly large single player map that should keep you amused for a while now you've played all the original game levels again! It contains more or less every effect available and an almost obsessive level of detail. I remember spending a whole afternoon animating a single leaf falling and flies buzzing around a light. There's a few new puzzles too.

Anyway, hope you like it.

lol, I actually don't know how to get this working...

Okay I make swcustom.txt and then what do I enter exactly to have SW run this map?

Can someone help me out here?

Just make a *.cmd file or a *.bat file.

And then enter this: sw.exe -map surygo.map

Now you can run the map.

Works for me

Another option is to rename surygo.map to $bullet.map and then start a new single player game in the first episode. This map will then load instead of Seppuku Station.

Psykomanius' approach is better practice though!

or just click Run then <SWDIR>\SW.exe -map surygo.map

or swp.exe.

I just played through the map, very well done, but a few "problems":
- the teleporter makes you face the wrong way
- all the screen-shaking / earth-quaking is annoying
- you use the gold key before silver
- I suspect a few of the secret-area triggers aren't working, because I found a few where I got no message, and by the end of the map it only registered me as finding 6/15

Really good though, looks like you used just about every gadget in the game :P

Screen shaking is only around the start areas. Map is great, very nice design. I got 92 of 93 kills and found 5 of 15 secrets. Must be 10 really well hidden areas !!

There was way too many rocket launcher ammos lying around, making it quite easy to run and gun but it was a fun big level.

I'm not sure why someone said you use the gold key before the silver key. Its true, but is it a problem ?

I think (if you are still modding this map) that you could add a red key in a hidden area and add a door to a certain building in the woods that (i think) you can't enter. And maybe add a few more meanies around.

If you aren't still updating this map, then cracking job
Did you make any others ??

Re: A new single player map for you all!
Hey, thanks for all the feedback. On the topic of the secrets, I'm not aware of any problems with secrets not registering, I can find all 15... of course, it helps that I know where they are! My guess is that you're not looking hard enough

Hitman71 said I should hide a redkey for a house in the woods. Good idea. In fact, if you look around the level long enough you may well find a hidden yellow key card that leads to a secret part of the level. I remember spending a good few days building a mini secret level within the level. And all the buldings in the woods can be entered: need a key for one, the other has a lock on the door you need to shoot off first, the other large building you enter from behind at the end of the map.

Good points about too much ammo and annoying earthquakes! I'll try to curb that next time

I again tried this map but found the shaking far too annoying to continue.
A second version with no shaking at all might be in order as people will only play this map when there is nothing left to play.
Otherwise it looks like it could be a nice map and a fair size as well.

Alright, as you're special. I updated the map and reduced the shaking. I think it needs the quake_spot though as the temple-like building at the start is pretty unstable, what with stairs collapsing and all. The radius is also less so once you move past that part in the level the shaking wont upset you. I also adjusted the palettes around the starting point as SWP handles palettes slightly differently and it looked a bit dumb.

Great stuff - thanks.
Yes I agree there are certain instances where a earthquake is necessary and adds to the effect, its just that when it starts shaking for no real reason and you have to sit and wait, its a pain in the butt
