Max Payne coming to mobile devices
Just as the thread title suggests Max Payne is coming to "mobile devices" with HD graphics, high resolution graphics and customizable controls.

Rockstar hasn't specifically said which devices but i suppose its safe to assume its going to be for iOS and Android.

For me this doesnt sound to bad although controls can be absolutely horrible.

I am a retro freak with my iOS device, 2d platformers and old school shooters galore!

I've got Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3D, Prince of Persia Classic, Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2, Earthworm Jim, Simpsons Arcade remake.

This will be an amazing addition to my collection if it indeed comes out for iOS.

I wonder if it'll actually be the PC/Console version or if they'll go for the isometric one that came out for GBA.

Ok peeps... for some reason Kotaku Australia didnt post a link in that article but here is the link for the official news post at the Rockstar Games website.

http://www.rockstargames.com/newswir...e-devices.html

Here is the official statement.

Quote:
The original Max Payne broke new ground in interactive entertainment with its stylish presentation and immersive story, making Max one of the action genre’s first multi-dimensional characters - and attracting loyal fans and multiple awards along the way.

Today we're pleased to announce that this gritty action classic will receive the full HD treatment for mobile devices later this fall. The game will include connectivity and support from the Rockstar Games Social Club and boast the same features as its PC counterpart, including HD graphics and high-resolution textures, and will also take full advantage of the latest mobile technologies with deep customizable controls.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

My question is, will 3D Realms get any money out of it? Same with Remedy!

They co-own MP1 and 2 as far as I know.

I don't think 3DR gets any royalties anymore.

But as far as I know Rockstar needs permision from 3D Realms and Remedy for doing anything related to Max Payne 1 and 2. A port especially!

No, 3DR and Remedy sold the IP to Take Two/Rockstar back in 2002.
