EDuke32 and external Duke Nukem 3D directories?
I just tried EDuke32 for the first time, and it's really awesome.
![]() But I have a question: I don't want to let my files get too cluttered, so I've decided to put EDuke32 in its own folder. However, this prevents EDuke32 from detecting my Duke Nukem 3D installation. My setup is as follows: Duke Nukem 3D location: C:\games\Duke3D EDuke32 location: C:\games\EDuke32 How do I tell EDuke32 that my installation is at C:\games\Duke3D without copying all the EDuke32 files there? For the record, I got EDuke32 to work by copying Duke3d.grp to my EDuke32 folder. I know the file is "only" about 42.3 MB in size, and storage is dirt cheap these days, but I still want to avoid having multiple copies of large files if possible. Thanks in advance. |

Re: EDuke32 and external Duke Nukem 3D directories?
Unless you're using GOG.com or Steam copy of DN3D(and recently eduke32 synthesis builds can auto-detected and use them directly, I'm not sure GOG one but Steam one can be auto-detect and use if you already installed), eduke32 still want to ask your copy of DUKE3D.GRP (and may needed DUKE.RTS for MP game) or you must put it on its directory if auto-detected fail or you just using too old of eduke32 builds.
And seriously, just a copy of DUKE3D.GRP(or with DUKE.RTS) won't consume too many of space, just about ~43MB(1.4/1.5) or ~26MB(1.3d), really. ![]() I won't see any reasons you could made other copies of eduke32.exe unless you downloaded/made a mod/TC needed specific versions of eduke32(and maybe they'll attached with the mod/TC package if really needed). That's just bad eduke32 doesn't has a feature for manual choose the location/path of DUKE3D.GRP, when it just can auto-detect or you just put the GRP with eduke32.exe and run.
