Max Payne Xbox for $2
http://www.circuitcity.com

The original Max Payne for the Xbox 1 (works on the 360 too) is being sold at Circuit City for $2 at the moment.

If you never grabbed it, now's the time. No idea how long or how many they have to offer at this price.

Thumbs up Re: Max Payne Xbox for $2
Thanks for the tip Joe.

I already have the PC version of Max Payne, but for $2, I cannot pass this up. I only paid $2 for S&H, so the total was around $4.

I love to go back and play older games after they have gathered dust on my bookshelves. Time to play Max Payne on the 360.

Sorry to disappoint but the game really has a frame rate issue when trying to play it on the 360 due to the backwards compatibility issues the game has. The game also has areas cut out of it just like the PS2 version. If you don't have any other way to play it then great, but otherwise stick to the PC version.

There aren't areas cut out. Due to memory constraints on the original Xbox there are more frequent "level loads". Memory says all the game content is there, you just have to load more often.

Haven't tried it on my 360 but I thought the game was a pretty faithful port on the Xbox. Can't say the same for the second one but the original holds up pretty well to it's PC counterpart I feel.

I never understand why people have to be so grouchy and fanatical about the game console vs. PC holy war.

I got the game for $4. You cannot even get a meal at a fast food restaurant at that price. That $4 also included delivery to my house. How can you beat that?

I tested the game out, and it seemed ok. It is in 4:3 ratio, and the graphics are not as sharp as my PC version. The controls were a little weird, but it should not take too long to get used to them.

On the other hand, I did not have to screw around with some crazy hack to get the sound working like I had to under Vista for the PC version of Max Payne.

Some people really need to lighten up about these holy wars.

Thanks again Joe for pointing out this sale, because I probably would have missed it.

Note: I already have the PC version. You would see that if you bothered to read my entire post.

I probably should not bring this back up, but I was not trying to start anything. I was just stating that if you own a 360, the backwards compatibility of the game is not very good and that small parts of some levels are cut out. I fortunately or unfortunately own the xbox, pc, and ps2 versions of both MP1 and 2.

You could ask a relative or friend in the USA to gift you a Max Payne on Steam.

it does have bits cut though like in the first level just after you go down the stairs to pick up the security guard, the whole section at the bottom of those stairs to the right is inaccessible on the xbox version. not sure about other bits
